Rajashri Birla, Co-chairman of Habitat for Humanity India Builds Advisory Committee hosted a function felicitating Habitat for Humanity India. Being committed to the cause for several years, Mrs Birla has now extended her commitment of Rs one crore to Habitat India during this financial year. Asit Koticha, Chairman of ASK Group said on the occasion, "The ASKHabitat partnership is inspired by the 'Join John's Brigade' campaign of Habitat led by filmstar John Abraham."
Talking about his campaign, John Abraham urged people to come forward and present their support towards building homes for the destitute. "Come join my brigade to build decent homes for the poor. Come on India, let's show we care!" was his call to all those present. Some of the other personalities who graced the occasion were Sanjay Nayar, CEO Citi India, Gul Kripalani, Chairman and Managing Director, Pijikay Group of companies, Ruchira Agarwal, wife of Navin Agarwal, Deputy Chairman, Vedanta, Ramesh Ramachandran, President and CEO, Dow India and Felix Fernandes, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India.
John Abraham, through his 'John's Brigade', has constantly been in touch with corporates to come forward and support this cause. What's more, he has been successful at motivating corporates to support his cause to build homes for tribal villagers in rural India. 'John's Brigade' also aims to get more of 'youth entrepreneurs' to contribute back to society with Habitat for Humanity.
