Mihir reminded me of Anil Kapoor from Beta yesterday when he was talking with Hemant. As the movie is heading towards the climax we know how everyone who is a well wisher of Anil’s character tells him his stepmom is evil and is literally trying to kill his wife and unborn child in her womb by poison and he keeps arguing against everyone and gulps down the poisoned milk himself. Then as he coughs up blood, he’s surprised everyone was right all along and he was so blind that the truth staring him in the face was not visible to him at all.
Anil is shown as a child groomed by an evil woman pretending to care and love him as a mother would to the point that he doesn’t dream of ever questioning her. We understand that in his case his behaviour and growth were literally moulded and stunted by the woman who was picked by his father.
I think Mihir is about to repeat the history of Anil’s character but without the backstory of being a literal child brainwashed and groomed. And that’s what makes it worse.
Mihir will gulp down poison, but he won’t be alone as his family will undoubtedly suffer alongside him and gulp down some of it too in some way or another… and only then he will admit that he was being so open-minded that his brain literally fell out of his head and he didn’t even notice. Because nothing else explains his behaviour and his justifications.
Honestly, at times like these you’re reminded why a good old slap or two are okay. Violence is wrong and might not always be the answer, may not always work but boy is it so warranted sometimes.
If this was the reaction of a 20 something guy or maybe someone in their early to mid 30s I would still understand, be mad at him and frustrated, but understand why he’s being so obtuse about something like this.
But Mihir is at least in his 60s, he has literally burned down his marriage once and it was a testament to his elders being around and well, TV show logic that kept his marriage going despite everything. He got a second chance.
It seems like he’s bored with stability and security in his marriage, he doesn’t really get a decent sleep until and unless he’s given his family anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks, ulcers and migraines over the state and fate of his marriage. He enjoys the chaos and the main character energy that keeps everyone’s focus on him as he has to go and find a new woman every couple of years, dying to get in his bed and keep the drama going.
Seriously, at this point if a woman pops up as he literally lays dying, taking his last breaths and goes all - OMG, he’s so handsome, I want him - even when she knows he’s gonna die any moment now, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Ekta might as well turn Kyunki into a supernatural drama then as the Sautan revives a dead Mihir with black magic, forcing Tulsi to fight to protect him even though he’s literally a dead man walking.
