I was talking specifically about India. While monogamy has co-existed along with polygamy for centuries, it became the law only after the Roman Church took over and it was mostly for inheritance purposes. Men still had mistresses and cocoubines.

The British/French/Spanish along with the Christian Missionaries helped spread it throughout the world.

Monogamy only became a law in India in 1955, prior to which you could have any number of wives/husbands.

But I think I'm going to sit this one out, my "Views" won't translate very well on India-Forums. 😂 I do agree with the "Cheating" part whether physical, emotional, financial or any other kind. I don't consider it cheating if both partners are aware though.

Yes, only MEN had concubines, but still it was looked down upon. Unless you were a king or landlord or something.

Even in Hindu texts, monogamy has been emphasized and preferred, although polygamy existed.

Open marriages are different from cheating and polygamy. In old days, women could not protest because of the patriatchal system. Now they can.

And that's why women like Twinkle are spineless since they choose to keep quiet despite being privileged. That's not open marriage, that's plain old delusion and weakness.

We wonder sometimes if it’s us , women at more fault than man we rant about misogynistic, women empowerment, crucifying Vanga , but here we are . Let’s look at these two most annoying from wannabe modern Mahila group , promoting cheating they think it’s funny . So many women getting abused by their spouse over this issue and they think it’s funny.

I have a family member who caught her husband with another woman in her bed yet compromised and stayed back . Reason , kids and fear of losing shares .

Trust me if her husband had caught her doing this , physical abuse on her guaranteed and dragged her to court .

Other than Shiv Ji & Rama none of the other God's followed Monogamy. From Vishnu to Brahma to Krishna etc, everyone had multiple wives.

I've rarely seen a Hindu text promote anything to be honest. Hindu philosophy is passed through stories and poems and most characters are usually Grey instead of Black or white, even Super villians like Raavana/Duryodhana have redeeming qualities just like real life. And the heroes have their own weaknesses whether Rama or Arjun. It's usually left to your interpretation.

I'm talking about specific marriage-related texts which prescribe how people should behave in a marriage. Gods are different from humans.

In Vedic rituals, only one wife and one husband is mentioned. All marriage-related rituals are monogamy-centric.

On topic, open marriage is where both partners do it with each other’s consent.

That's not the case here with Akki Twinkle, right? The wives tolerate it for fame and money. So its cheating. That's not opinion, its objectively a fact.
