The first game was marred with consistent rain interruptions and in such games, the toss becomes such a vital factor. Australia won the toss and eventually chased the DLS adjusted target quite comfortably. India lost their top 4 cheaply, and were forced to play catch up for the rest of their innings. The good thing, today, however, is that the weather looks much better and expect a cracking contest between two highly-competitive sides. Hello and a warm welcome to the second ODI. Can India bounce back and square the series? Or is it gonna be another (series) win for Australia?

As for India, they might stick with the same combination and will hope better for better returns from their top 4. It's no secret that Virat Kohli loves this venue and he would be desperate to make a mark after a poor outing in the first game. Rohit, too, will be eager to make amends at the top alongside skipper Shubman Gill. Adelaide Oval is surely a much better surface for the batters compared to Perth. Can we expect a high-scoring thriller? Lots to look forward to in this game. Stay tuned for toss and teams...

The hosts will welcome the return of their premier spinner Adam Zampa, and not to forget their back-up keeping option in white ball cricket, and the local lad - Alex Carey. Marnus Labuschagne has 4 hundreds in his last 5 domestic games (2 FC and 3 List A games), and there will be temptation to bring him back into the eleven given the importance of sustaining a good run of form ahead of the all-important Ashes later next month.

Ro-Ko in focus as India face must-win challenge

The spotlight is firmly on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as India gear up for a crucial ODI at Adelaide Oval. The batting form of ā€˜Ro-Ko’ has become the central talking point of this series. Adding to the scrutiny, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, along with Shiv Sundar Das, are in Adelaide to monitor the situation.

Adelaide Oval has historically been a fortress for India. The team hasn’t lost an ODI at this venue in 17 years, winning nine of the last 14 matches. The pitch and dimensions favor the Men in Blue, giving them confidence even under pressure.

With India in a must-win situation, the responsibility falls on the senior batters to lead from the front. Kohli and Rohit will need to find their rhythm quickly, balancing caution with aggression to ensure India stays alive in the series.

Rain disruptions test India ahead of Adelaide ODI

Rain has continued to play spoilsport for India in Australia. In the first ODI at Perth, India’s innings suffered from constant interruptions, preventing the batters from finding any rhythm. And now, on the eve of the second ODI in Adelaide, the optional practice session was again affected by showers.

Despite the wet conditions, Rohit Sharma showed up for training, aware that time is running out for him to find form. The former captain struggled in Perth, scoring just eight runs, and with Yashasvi Jaiswal ruled out, Rohit knows another failure could spark conversations.

Visuals from the nets suggested Rohit trained with intent. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed that both Rohit and Virat Kohli looked good in practice. ā€œThey are senior players, they have been batting well in the nets. Don’t think there’s any cause of worry about their form,ā€ Kotak said.

As India prepares for a must-win clash at Adelaide Oval, all eyes will be on the senior batters to provide stability and guide the team under challenging conditions.

Virat Kohli’s October 23 Legacy

October 23 has always been special for Virat Kohli. Over the years, he has delivered unforgettable performances on this date across formats.

It began in 2011 with an unbeaten 86 against England in an ODI. In 2013, he featured in a no-result ODI against Australia. In 2016, he smashed 154* against New Zealand, and in 2022, he scored a sensational 82* in a T20I against Pakistan after India had stumbled to 31/4 at the MCG—a knock still remembered as one of the greatest T20I innings.

Today, Kohli will play on this date for the fifth time. With India in a must-win clash at Adelaide, fans will be watching to see if he can once again deliver a memorable performance and continue his October 23 legacy.

On this day Virat Kohli did the unthinkable

On this day in 2022, Virat Kohli delivered one of the greatest T20I innings of all time. Facing Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Kohli walked in when India was in dire straits at 31/4 while chasing 160. The stadium, packed with over 90,000 roaring fans, watched as Kohli single-handedly orchestrated a stunning turnaround.

His unbeaten 82 off 53 balls not only sealed the win but also reminded the cricketing world why he is revered as the KING. Remarkably, Kohli scored 39 runs in the final four overs alone—the highest ever by an Indian in T20I death overs while chasing.

As India prepares for the second ODI today, Kohli could well take inspiration from that iconic night. With the team in a must-win situation, fans will be hoping for another masterclass from him.
