Sarabhai was a flop but still it became iconic like kyunki.Crediting the whole success of Sarabhai to RG is hilarious.
Kind of disagree. Ratna ji was amazing but IMO the entire cast was amazing in their role, so I don't think any single person carried that show. Yes, the writers truly outdid themselves with the writing.
Sarabhai never became as iconic / popular as Kyunki and is still more of a niche show rather than a massy one. That's why the second season of Sarabhai released only on OTT (please correct me if I am wrong here).
People have cried and fasted for the return of Mihir, literally made him rise from the dead, Tulsi killing Ansh was the talk of the town ; none of which (the level of popularity) was achieved by Sarabhai 1. Not my intention to put down Sarabhai, personally, I loved Sarabhai and rewatch it too. Most of the serials after Kyunki failed to match its popularity regardless of their quality.
Again, I felt dragging Sarabhai by Anupamaa cast was not required. Kyunki 2 is connected with Kyunki 1 in terms of the OG characters at least whereas Anupamaa and Sarabhai are poles apart. If Anupamaa returns after 25 years from its closure like Kyunki did , then there can maybe be some sort of meaningful comparison on the TRP or popularity criteria (which is what was basically said in that interview and apparently found offensive by the Anupamaa cast too 🤷♀️).
