She’s a fantastic actress. That scene was the beginning of cementing her legacy as an actress. The sheer heartbreak of her anguished cry can still make people weep on reruns.

I’m however more partial to her scene with Savita where she reveals Mandira is alive. The whole scene is so well done. Those two ladies were phenomenal. Apara’s expressions of her disbelief, shock, horror and anger as she gradually accepts that her son has cheated on her bahu are absolutely outstanding. Smriti’s own anguished and muffled cries as she finally gets a mother’s lap to cry on but doesn’t have the luxury of time to weep to her heart’s extent as she rages and screams over the betrayal of her husband is just next level.

When Smriti says Kyunki is iconic, she has reason to do so. There are so many scenes in Kyunki that will forever be etched onto the minds of viewers; we remember them even now but Anupama cannot boast of a single such scene and it has been on air for what 5/6 years now as well I think. Speaks for itself.
