If an actor, who has played straight positive ML and then chose to play Aviraj, it will be considered a challange for the actor. But Krush as Anirudh Bose has mastered the art of bringing complex shades of a character to life, with finesse...for Krush, as you said, playing Aviraj is a massive downgrade. He expects us to praise him for choosing a negative character which he considers as something anokha...but the truth is, Aviraj is too simple and straight a character for him to play at this stage.. Given that it's a remake, we all know the character arc will straight away move from negative to positive due to the bachha..it neither challanges him as an actor nor challanges us to think about Aviraj's motives, actions and so called redemption..and most of Krushal's frustrations on fd is stemming from the contrast of his wish of acceptance for Aviraj by the fd and fd's lack of interest in it..
Exactly! If someone who has only played one-note positive MLs suddenly picked a full-blown negative lead, then it could be applauded as an acting challenge. But Krushal is not that actor — he’s already proved his flair for layered, morally grey characters with Anirudh Bose. He thrived in nuance, internal conflict, and silent gravitas.
Which is why Aviraj feels like such a downgrade. There’s nothing complex or unpredictable about him — he’s a factory-produced ITV negative lead with a textbook redemption arc waiting to be “activated” the moment the kid comes into play. There's nothing here for Krush to sink his teeth into, creatively or emotionally. It’s a linear character marketed as a risk, when in reality, it’s the safest, most uninspired choice.
And you’ve hit the nail on the head about his frustration with the FD — he expected applause for “picking a negative role” as if that alone is revolutionary. But the audience isn’t rejecting negativity, they’re rejecting mediocrity. There’s no depth, no intrigue, no psychological conflict — so why should people invest?
You can’t expect viewers to romanticize surface-level chaos after you've already shown them the brilliance of controlled storm. Once you’ve tasted complexity, template villains just don’t cut it.
