14:42 Local Time, 09:12 GMT: That strike from Fernando in the last over before tea might have just boosted Sri Lanka's hopes. tried different approaches to break the partnership between Gill and Padikkal, but created very few chances. The pacers, Kumara and Fernando, went for the short-ball tactic, while Jayasuriya and Keshara bowled a negative line outside leg stump. With very little assistance from the pitch, neither approach created much pressure. Gill and Padikkal handled everything that came their way, both brought up their fifties and the partnership crossed 100. Just when it looked like they would take India to tea without further damage, Gill played a loose shot and gave his wicket away. Rishabh Pant faced one ball before tea and survived a big LBW appeal, with ball-tracking showing the delivery would have missed leg stump. India are in a strong position, but Sri Lanka will hope that late breakthrough can give them some momentum. Back soon..
