Just saw the film A decent romantic drama that works despite the premise that is very familiar. You know the journey,you know the destination but it’s the treatment of the subject that makes it worthwhile.It brings back the vintage Bollywood romance that has been missing off late .

The film has a fine start with Siddharth Malhotra coming across an app that leads to his soulmate (Jhanvi) residing far away from him .Actually the film does not grip you instantly.It is about an hour into the film ,you start feeling the romance/chemistry between the leads .

There are several moments that stay with you much after the show is over.My fav scene is Jhanvi’s confession in church how she she hates her current job /sacrifices she had to make for her family is undeniably moving.The intermission point is another highlight when a third wheel to this love story surfaces.Also the comic portions work quite well.

The music is another highlight.Pardesiya had me mesmerized and it was a treat to watch it on big screen.The production values are quite good too and the locations of Kerela are a visual treat.

On the flip side,the story is so predictable that you see everything coming from a distance.The film does not really break new grounds and follows the same path Bollywood love stories have followed since time immemorial.

Also the central conflict in the film appears quite weak .Siddharth pretending to be in love with Jhanvi just for the sake of developing an app is not convincing.There was no need for him to reveal this aspect to Jhanvi in the pre climax.It felt so not needed!

Siddharth handles his part quite well .He has a charm and it shows through out the movie .Jhanvi takes you by a surprise with a confident performance.This film should be a turning point in her career.

Overall watch it if you like romantic dramas!

Decent start for a Rom-Com. Guarantees a double digit Saturday and a 15 Cr Sunday( Family audience days).

Jhanvi seems to have the stronger role and seems to be garnering the lions share of the accolades.
