However, Adi/YRF had given fodder to negativity through a quite generic teaser + a questionably written announce date.
Coolie is not a BW movie. Why would BW trade analysts care about it over War2 which is a BW movie lol

Would it even make sense to explain how a campaign can destroy the well-receiving - as much as a campaign could people manipulate into a well-receiving? A campaign is something orchestrated, prepared long before... and with the technology we have today even able to spread worldwide.
Almost every movie has people in the audience which like it very much/just like it/ only a bit/ not at all - for different reasons. So, what does a campaign do? It will stimulate a pre-impression, try to manipulate the desire or non-desire to go to the movies.
YRF - for whatever reason - didn't promote the movie well enough to incite so much interest that the curiosity/desire to watch the movie would get kept alive despite a certain amount of negativity.
I bet that at least 60% of those commenting/having commented, haven't even watched the movie.
There still are some critics of Indian Cinema who are worth to get read...mostly they not only analyse a movie but also bring examples. Of course, there had been a few things in the movie they criticised, but the positive impression they had, predominated...and none of them wrote bad things about the director... they just criticised that the editing could have been a bit tighter.
Yet you're right, 'the die is cast'.
There was quite a lot of negativity surrounding Saiyyara too, with many dismissing the movie as PR-hyped and making accusations of corporate booking.
