Yeah youāre right - Jonah is one of those whoās stuck in their environment- I donāt think he will find a way to thrive or even survive outside of what he knows. Calla, imo, seems more adaptable but even so - her entire life has been in Toronto. So for her to make that switch is a tall order as well given how extreme the conditions are in Alaska.
The book was slow, but the relationships were nicely drawn out, I didnāt love it but didnāt hate it either and the writing was decent.
Wren is someone who seems to inspire loyalty and love without really giving much of himself to anyone - which is rare and strange and kinda unfair right? I mean Jonah, Agnes, Mabel, Susan and finally Calla - all loved him but he really doesnāt do much for them, he just followed his heart and did as he damn well pleased - even right down to his smoking till it killed him. I wonder about people like that ⦠you keep giving, giving and giving without getting anything from them in return. Not that he asked for it - but still, he got it. Pretty lucky Iād call it.
I agree, especially when he should have been grateful that she came all the way even though he never showed up, he was downright cold. Talk about getting everything when he doesn't deserve anything.
@b: nothing but sheer luck because sure as hell it ain't karma.
