We had a discussion last week on the repeated SA storylines like Mannat’s attack this week.
In the UK an independent body sets guidelines and can fine broadcasters from potentially harmful or unsuitable content on television for a general audience, including children. Broadcasters must exercise greater care with content like violence, sex, and strong language before 9pm.
To date #mhkph has been aired after 10pm but do you think they are likely to tone down for the new Primetime 7.30pm slot where children will be watching ?
(btw I don’t think what they broadcast in Mannat’s attack would be deemed ‘unsuitable’ at 7.30pm here in U.K. just not expected as frequently as #mhkph seemed to be happy using)
What all they are showing in Mannat is actually very common in most shows. I doubt they will ever get fined or even have issues as long as they are not showing too much chumma chaati.
My personal opinion, they really need to put restrictions on how tracks such as rape/attempted rape should be handled , meaning, the message being given out (I know this is a very broad) . Like Shalini track, Bobby was punished and sent to jail, which is good for ITV standards.
Coming to Bobby 2.0, they would have rushed this one too if the victim was a female like Bobby track. Hopefully they can understand male or female victims shouldn't matter when such tracks are being handled.
