can you please update the authors and books name in the first post.

Also is it only me who is finding this book kinda little boring 🤔 😅. Both Lucy and Joshua are completely cuckoo in my opinion this is like reading a high school comedy between the self proclaimed miss popular and the bully who doesn’t know he is a bully smiley36

How are you liking this book so far?

What's up Ritz!

I'm good, howdy?

The list has been updated.

But yeah, I agree with you. I would have preferred them to be high school kids or something, and this would at least be believable. If two adults were behaving like this at a workplace, I'd have fired them I were the boss. Seriouslysmiley6

I'm not liking the book at all. And I'm dreading how bad the next chapters are going to be!

Thank you smiley31

I am good too but just bored because of this book smiley36

TBH initially it was still funny but I expected it to change the pace and behaviour after that confrontation from Lucy’s side in the bar. Although it was cute how he was concerned about her and took care of her.

Last month I read the Spanish love deception and people commented that that look is a cheap copy of the hating game so I decided to give it a chance because I like that book a lot, apart from the basic character description of the characters ( everyone’s fav girl * grumpy guy), that book handles these characters a lot better. The girl was not a pushover like Lucy, would take stand for herself and the guy was actually pretty decent. Here he is coming across as a teenager who bullies the girl he has crush on. smiley37smiley39This is comical in a very pitiful manner.

I am at ch-14 and honestly it’s becoming a drag fest for me too going forward.

Do you wanna DNF this book and go with a different book or just persevere with this one?

I think that I'm on the verge of DNFing this onesmiley36

I can't take these probably 30-year old adults acting as if they were in high school any longer. And also, the way this is progressing, it feels more like a lust story than a love story.

Shall we read something else? Like, a more clean, cute-sy romance? Do you have any suggestions?

Well I do want to read the other book I suggested but I am not sure if it is something you want to read. Although the author is one of my fav who write a combo of chick lit and mafia romance.

Rn I don’t have any other name, so how about you give a try to the second option I suggested, read maybe 3-4 chapters and let me know if you wanna give it a chance till then I will look up another suggestion for you?

I only put 2 books in my tbr to start this month with because i select books as I read and I don’t pre-select my books.

It is precious hazard by Neva Altaj. It’s an interconnected standalone in a continuing series. Most characters from previous don’t appear or are just mentioned in the passing. Because it might take me 2-3 days to come up with new suggestions.

What do you say?

Also give me the tropes you do read in romance so that I can look them up.

TBH the only reason I started taking part in these reading challenges was, I have been feeling very disconnect to reading lately. I only started reading in June again after 6 months of not reading and I have been very slow for my usual speed. I am a girl who once used to go through 25-30 books a month. So most books just feel very repetitive at this point.

And the point of buddy read was reading a book suggested by someone else so I thought maybe i will discover new authors. And I made a blunder myself I read so many good comments for this book which are totally misleading by the way and are absolutely written by teenagers smiley36

so yeah, in conclusion let me know what kind of romance do you prefer.

Hey! To be very honest, I'm not a huge fan of Mafia/Dark romance or anything with enemies to lovers trope, because it ends up being smutty mostly. I prefer more of a clean romance with characters I can root for... And that's why I'm not able to get on with THG as well. smiley9

Even I was feeling very disconnected with reading off late. I just picked up my speed last month. So I don't want to destroy the momentum.

Okay, how about we both take today to start looking for other books we might like... In the mean time, let's start with our 2nd book for the month. What say?

Even I am not a fan of enemies to lovers trope. And rn no matter what book I see it has that trope. It has gotten very popular in the last few years.

How about….

the bride test by Helen hoang

Or

the love hypothesis by Ali hazelwood?

I think they write clean romance. Nothing too dark/ mafia types.

And yes go ahead with the second book, I actual already started another book after DNFing THG so I will complete it first then start TVSSOIW meanwhile I will look for suggestions too.

Cool! Since "The Bride Test" is part of a series, we can start off with the first book? And if you don't have many suggestions from the romance genre, you can suggest another genre as well, like crime, mystery, thriller, etc., or even another Fantasy. What say?

Sure, I have updated the list of suggestions on page one so that it’s all in one place and added 2 more suggestions for you to choose from. Please take a look and let me know what do you think if you are up for any book.

And about the bride test, as far as I know the books from that series can be read in any order. Because I have already read the first book so I suggested the second one. But we can read a different book.
