Recently, I finished watching the show Whirlwind Girl Season 1.
It was a good watch. A strong one. I watched it on normal speed and to my surprise, never FF any scene
It was crisp, on point, showing various emotions and situations well. Specially, the training parts were the most entertaining and captivating for me. Many matches were detailed, with on point observation given about what is happening and sometimes why that's happening.
It may contain spoilers ahead
Rou Bai - Mostly I've liked Yang yang in all his shows and here as well he had my heart.
I remember how I got too involved with his characters in Who rules the world and you are my glory. My all time favorites from him. He nails character like Rou bai senior
His obsession and hardwork for training Bai Cao and his zidd to see her succeed was heart touching. I really wanted that his silent sacrificer self was not wronged.
Qi Bai Cao - Our main FL the whirlwind girl and how she was shaped from a sport enthusiast to an expert was worth watching. She was stubborn, her faith and loyalty to his master and later towards her training partner and senior Rou bai (Yang yang) was unmatched. Wild grass - she lived up to her name. Her growth was visible, not in a blink of an eye but her development was shown brick by brick. At times she was childish, clueless but when in the uniform, she was something else only. Her dedication to the sport and Rou bai's desperation to make her unbeatable in that sport was worth the watch. She had all the three male leads fall for her and trying their best to have everything best for her. From not knowing how it feels to like someone to finally realise who was very important in her heart, the show ended
From having a crush to have a desperate and deeper feelings for the one, needed to be shown with some more scenes after the realisation. They could not get their couple scenes together.
That was a big miss.
Yu Chu Yuan - a simple, calm and gentle ex- champion who was played by ML of First frost. All the lead girls in the show liked him
He could be seen training and coming back in shape to fight like a champion. After all he was a senior master. I really wanted at least one of his match at the end, specially with Ting Hao. He had reason for quitting and when he came back, a simple smile from her mother to see him fight, was expected. Even few scenes could have done but he was not even shown wearing his uniform in the end.
Ting Hao - current champion, who was desperate to defeat Chu Yuan from the start. Then he found Bai Cao, who made his perfect, vengeful and boring life spicy. He kept revolving around her. Too proud in the beginning but too reliable as the show progressed to conclude. He only wanted two things in the show, he lost Bai Cao but was not even shown as athlete, fighting with Chu Yuan or in any other championship in the end - I did not want to see him lonely in the end.
His sister made me feel sick sometimes, I didn't want to watch her many times. Too proud of her success and fame, she literally forced herself so many times on Chu Yuan that it felt suffocating. But he did not do anything, not even till the end. He never said a word that could ease my frustration towards her.
The younger team was nice as well. Specially, Leo wu (ML of snowstorm of love) - second senior, lazy, loyal and one of the best athletes they had and a very good observer. His comments during the matches were something I looked forward to. He supported Rou Bai very much, knew all his secrets and was his best buddy to knock some sense in him. He fought with Bai Cao's best friend (FL of go ahead) all the time, eventually liked her (who had declared, visible and childish crush on Rou bai - finally accepted defeat that she can't make Rou bai like her like that). I wanted them to be together at the end. And lastly, it would have been nice to see how he will break the news of ink and paper to Bai Cao but he was loyal and kept his promise to keep mum.
The last scene showed their final match to select the participant in that city youth competition. Both the girls had trained so hard but we could not see that show down. I wanted to see Bai Cao win, even with 1 point could have done. Even a few glimpses would have done. She would share this happiness with Rou bai. They fought really hard for this opportunity. Then she coule have help him back to be healthy, though not as fit to be an athlete. I would have loved to see him coach her for International tournaments (they had this legendary En Xiu to win over), as a couple setting trainings and spending time with each other would have been wonderful. I already visualize them right now.
Though the show had been a very good watch, I wanted one more episode of showing a proper climax with a proper closure to every character. Wrote something after so long and wrote so long too
I couldn't just get them out of mind easily. Now it feels better
🥰👍
