What was this Nomination
It is a magical movie - in so many ways. Although I didn't get the references to old Hindi movies and the subtitles didn't always caught the poetry of the Hindi lyrics, I liked the musicality of this true-blue musical and also the often comic-like rendition. Like with Jaan-e-Mann, it gave me the feeling of "what a nice idea". I liked Ranbir a lot in this movie.
Just as an example what made me love this film:

Not a really romantic movie, but with the nice romantic song Musafir:

I think the film would have done much better had it been a non musical narrative..The way story was narrated alienated a huge chunk of the audience!
Sometimes, a movie with real reel-magic should not be watched by leaning on logic, but on the childlike heart (too many may have burried because of life). I even would have liked a sequal...and as I'm a comic fan (especially the French and Belge ones), I simply loved the Tintin-like Ranbir character (the Adventures of Tintin comics by the Belge Hergé).
As for magic in Hindi movies...the last magical one I watched had been Zero...and this movie also got rejected.

Ranbir was very good here..His innocence was endearing!
Zero was good in the first half..but story became something else in the 2nd half!

Well, the 2nd half was the more important one when it comes to the 'magic of Cinema'... You remember that the movie started with Bauaa dreaming to be a hero (albeit a western film one)? Well, then he dreamed himself to be of imposing height. But in reel-real life, his only talent (if you'll name that a 'talent') was to ('make stars fall'...for him). In the second part, he indeed becomes a kind of hero (first man on Mars), just because of what he - in the first half - tried to compensate with a demeanour of grandeur... and failed in front of the movie stars.
Jagga Jasoos has a movie-inherent logic...I noticed that often people have difficulties to connect to a movie because they confound reel logic with real logic.
To me, a movie only fails when I don't see a logic in the reel world... like I do with the Shanaya-Vikram movie that just released (going with what I saw in the trailer and know of the story).
Films lead characters should've been little kids

Nice analysis.
