I don't understand why 18 or 19 year-old people like this type of show. I mean, so many options are available now. They are modern, young, and tech-savvy. They're aware of Indian web series and other foreign shows. Still, they prefer to stick to these ridiculous ITV shows!

Why I watched ghum (I am big hater of such tv serials you can ask my sis)....
Because you don't get such level emotional drama anywhere, in movies web show what we get in limited time it's highly elaborated and very deeply connectable....

I don't agree. Emotional depth can be shown within a smaller number of episodes, too. It depends on the talent of the director and the storytelling style of the show. And emotional depth isn't specific to Indian shows only. I saw emotional depth in foreign shows as well. On the other hand, when an ITV show runs for 5 or 6 years, it becomes boring. I never watched any ITV show's all the episodes for 5 or 6 years continuously.
It’s a misconception that television shows are for everyone. While everyone can watch it, it is only for a select audience who have bar-o-meters installed at home. If that audience watches your show, you don’t have to worry about everyone else.Originally posted by: Tanvi_vault
We deserve better. Indian TV has so much potential to tell powerful, diverse and progressive stories. There are so many real, raw topics waiting to be explored like mental health, gender equality, class struggles, modern parenting, LGBTQ+ stories and more. But no, instead we get another teary eyed heroine crying in the rain because her husband is having an affair again and she’s still expected to “save the family"
Enough is enough. Stop remaking these shows.
That audience is different from your online audience. That’s exactly why crap shows like Anupamaa, jungle Laxmi and etc are doing so well.
The topics that you have mentioned - mental health, gender equality, LGBTQ+ are topics which your rural audience don’t really connect to. So why would any channel or PH waste their time or money backing it. Production costs bhi recover nahi hoga. Episodes chalayenge kaise?

Are bar-o-meters related to TRP? Are people with bar-o-meters only TRP viewers?

Di it's matter of perception I am not admirer of serial as you know but definitely 3 hrs of movie or 6-7 episodes can't give you the base an year of content....no matter how good direction or storytelling is it doesn't cover time....
Generally movies and web shows....don't highlight love it's actually lust only only few crafts which are considered boring by mass actually show real meaning of emotional and spiritual connection not just hormones....
Waise I just said for fun...why PPL like such regressive crafts or drama is because entertainment isn't mohtaaz (function) of logic, values or any realistic grounds....it's about just content so they provide what is good for daily soap and trp aunties....I believe this....

Actually even online audience isn't classy haan bas thori updated hai....
And they sell what works major trp comes from rural and if not then middle class societies not modern clubs.....
And sach bolu not about Anu and Lakshmi....but ghum S1 was still progressive though toxic....it wasn't 90s ka craft....and Sai wasn't bechari abla naari infact was very flawed especially before surrogacy....

Bold@ That's your opinion. And I completely disagree. For me, quality matters more than quantity.

Haan haan main ispe argue nhi kar rha....I am neither saying tv is better than those....just ki time milta hai toh aap bahut kuch dikha sakte ho bas....
And as said those dramas mainly focus on physical romance whereas emotional bond which actually is called love is covered in serials and lusty stuffs come in end....
