Using the tragedy of innocent lives lost as a means to gain fame and followers is a disturbing reflection of how far we've fallen.People are now stooping to creating fake AI-generated videos of the deceased just to gain followers. It’s deeply disturbing and utterly disgraceful.

This may be one of the darkest lows of our generation.smiley12

Now pilots are little more scared and don't want to take chances. And some used to happen before also.

Once one of my relatives ' flight was diverted to Ahmedabad due to issues n landing gear. Pilot dumped lot of fuel down from the sky and then landed n Ahmedabad. Then after sorting it out and refueling they landed at the destination. It took 3 hours for the issue to get sorted. It was indigo. These issues have been happening. This was about 3-4 months ago

It’s because of the social media Boeing is not able to wiggle out of this, despite trying their best. They have employed every possible YouTube influencer to set up a narrative that it’s because of Air India it happened. First they tried to blame the Pilots and poor training and what not but unfortunately for them the RAT thing came out so now they are trying hard to blame the other things.

If only SM was there in 1985 when the Air India 182 crashed due to the terrorist attack, Canada wouldn’t have been able to wash off their hands as easily and heartlessly as they did. Read this up:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_India_Flight_182

And watch this:

https://youtu.be/EOon9OqHEVo?si=8UJgVLBBYwt7bqhQ

After being responsible for the neglect and poor security at the airport which caused the accident and failing to do a proper and unbiased investigation in the aftermath , what did Canada do? Just washed off their hands by sending a condolence note to the then PM Rajeev Gandhi, basically telling India that it’s India problem - though it was caused by the Canadian citizens living in Canada killing Canadian citizens. If SM was there, they wouldn’t have been able to so easily pushed it under the rug.

I read in the news that Air India pilots are traumatized due to the incident. A pilot had a panic attack when the plane was about to take-off, another said he wasn't sure if he would be able to enter the cockpit again.

One of my colleagues traveling to India, was arguing with the travel agent "I'm not flying AI for sure, find an alternative for me".

The pilots and crew lost their lives, the pilots would've been the first ones to know that they were dying. But sure, let's be insensitive. Let's blame them, the airlines, the ground staff... that's what we are good at anyway...

nobody is blaming pilots here. this is not the time for blame game.

A whole plane fell upon a building. Nothing can be more haunting than this. this should be thoroughly investigated, instead of brushing it off. So that in future such accidents do not happen.

Pilots automatically got the blame in the immediate aftermath but eventually after more information came out I don’t think any reasonable well informed professional is blaming them anymore. Of course there are the conspiracy theorists and Boeing apologists who are still coming up with ridiculous and absurd theories against the Pilots but even they know that they don’t make any sense.

Having said that, it’s good that Air India has come under heavy scrutiny. Because we took 3 trips to India over the last several months, last one being just before this tragedy with return trip right on the day of the tragedy which got cancelled though the flight had no connection with the incident, through AI and I am not kidding when I say each and every single time the flight got delayed after the boarding and people seated with the plane ready for the take off and Captain announcing technical glitches due to which we just got stuck in the plane for hours with no food or AC. I am not even complaining about the poor Toilet and seat maintenance or the entertainment not working, but aren’t they supposed to take care of the technical glitches BEFORE the boarding? Once or twice here and there we can accept the discrepancies but every single time? They said after TATA take over it will get better but nada so far.

PSA: AI sent out an email to all members today (we have the news already in the mainstream media) as follows:

We are reaching out with heavy hearts following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 on June 12, 2025. The loss of 241 passengers and crew members, along with 34 people on the ground, has left us all in deep sorrow. Words cannot express the pain we feel for the families and loved ones affected by this devastating event. We are fully committed to doing all we can to support the families impacted and are also working closely with authorities to understand the cause of this tragedy. Our thoughts are with everyone touched by this loss.

At Air India, your safety is our highest priority and always has been since we took over the airline in 2022. In this context we want to share some important facts about Flight AI171 to provide clarity during this difficult time:

Our Crew : The flight was led by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a highly experienced pilot and trainer with over 10,000 hours flying widebody aircraft. First Officer Clive Kunder, had over 3,400 hours of flying experience.

Our Aircraft : The plane was well-maintained, with its last major check in June 2023 and the next scheduled for December 2025. Its right engine was overhauled in March 2025, and the left engine was inspected in April 2025. Both the aircraft and engines were regularly monitored, showing no issues before the flight.

These are the facts as we know them today. We, together with the entire aviation industry, await the official investigation report to understand more.

Arising from this tragedy, and as directed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on June 14, 2025, we have been conducting thorough safety inspections on our 33 Boeing 787 aircraft. So far, inspections have been completed on 26 and these have been cleared for service. The remaining aircraft are currently in planned maintenance and will have these additional checks done before being released into service. Following the review, the DGCA has confirmed that our Boeing 787 fleet and maintenance processes fully meet safety standards.

Regrettably, the time required to perform these enhanced safety checks, along with the application of extra caution, external factors like airspace closures in Iran and the Middle East as well as night-time restrictions at some international airports, along with normal airline technical issues, has led to a higher-than-usual number of cancellations on our long-haul network in the past few days. We know these disruptions have been frustrating, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience.

As a confidence-building measure, we have elected to continue enhanced pre-flight safety checks on our Boeing 787 fleet and, as an added measure, our Boeing 777 aircraft, for the time being. Given the time these additional checks will consume and the potential impact on schedules, we have decided to reduce our international widebody flights by around 15% starting June 20, 2025 through to at least mid-July. This will also allow us to have more backup aircraft ready to handle any unexpected issues.

We understand that this temporary reduction to our schedule may affect your travel plans, and we’re deeply sorry for any inconvenience. If your flight is impacted, we will contact you to offer rebooking on another flight at no extra cost, or a full refund. We will share the updated international schedule within the next few days.

This is a challenging time for all of us. We are grateful for your support, and your understanding that safety must always come first. Your trust means everything to us, so if you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us through our customer support channels.

Thank you for choosing Air India, and for being part of the Maharaja Club. We are dedicated to serving you with care and, always, with safety.
Warm regards,

Campbell Wilson CEO & MD Air India

The important storages of data (black boxes) had been found on 13th and 16th of June...were transported to Delhi for examination only on the 24th (why such a delay???) and aren't still examinated as no lead-investigator had been appointed...this makes a quite baaaad impression to me.
