Maybe, Ranbir can shed this manchild image with Love & War and Ramayana. Unfortunately, the premise of Animal was the unsolved problem with the character's father and Vanga wanted that this got vented through extreme anger-issues and violence. Considering the protagonist of Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh and Vanga's public demeanour, the director himself may have strong anger-issues and a distorted view on masculinity.

Btw, I didn't perceive Ranbir as a manchild in Brahmastra...I think the - imo - completely lacking so-called on-screen chemistry between him and Alia was an important part of the quite feeble response.
