I'm almost as clueless as you regarding this world, because I havent read any book from this series. But I have read one book from the King series, and Brandon is also from that family, still no idea about the family tree or anything.

Brandon's obsession with colours and numbers makes me think he might be autistic. Not sure. Because he also avoids eye contact. :S But if he was autistic, it should have been mentioned clearly.

I'm enjoying it so far though. Their cat and mouse chase looks fun. I hope the plot will be good!

Nikolai is crazy . I think I won’t be able to add quotes from this book because the ones that stood out to me will be censored by IF

Something is definitely going on with Brandon. His need for control comes from something - maybe he was abused?

Bold: I was thinking the same thing ke kaise likhoon Nikolai uses very foul language and curses in every sentence.

I thought Nikolai would be my favourite character when I read the first chapter but Brandon is definitely more interesting. So far he thinks he's straight and not interested in men. It will be interesting to see how he gets attracted to Nikolai. They might have good scenes when they're finally together, I'm already liking their chemistry. I mever thought I could ever enjoy MM chemistry.

Nikolai is an a***ole but darn, the chemistry is off the charts! That scene where they’re erm choking each other? 🥵

Done with 7 & 8.

The Brandon chapters are definitely more interesting. And you're right - he's the more layered character, there's more to discover about him. Nikolai is an open book, but Brandon is a closeted, mysterious enigma. Add that self-loathing, self-denial and the obsessive need for control, it makes him a very intriguing MMC. Being around a twin like Landon couldn't be easy either - what with his narcissistic and anti-social disorder. Wtf Landon - labelling your twin brother as 'Spare Parts'? Not cool!

Some quotes really stood out in these 2 chapters:

I hate me enough for both of us

The sad truth is that seeing Lan's face is the only way I can see my face looking peaceful.

There are 2 things that scare the fck out of me - my image in the mirror and Landon.

She's so toxic, it makes drugs look like unicorn rainbows. (okay, this one made me cackle)

Of course he's done something illegal. His existence itself should be illegal.

After all, love is just an illusion made up by empty people who crave companionship. (Brandon, baby, who hurt you? )

I know I shouldn't write posts here because I'm not a participant of this buddy read. But I liked a quote. So, I've come here to say that. The last quote about love and illusion is beautiful and thought-provoking.

Chapters 9 & 10 done.

So they caved - or rather Brandon caved

I don’t love that it happened when he was drunk and they both were to a certain extent. I don’t love Nikolai forcing his way over what Brandon’s wishes seem to be- even if his actions contradict them. It borders on non-consent/ Dubcon for me - even if it was hot. I want him to back off now - Bran can do the pursuing if he wants Nikolai - not that he will have to do much, Nikolai is down bad

Bran is obviously conflicted, led him to self-harm and I feel terrible for him. He needs to deal with the demons in his head.

I’m curious about the black ink that swirls around him when he’s in the midst of chaos - it feels metaphorical but to Bran it looks real.
