I recently read the 5 issues special of Spider-man/Human Torch which I would definitely recommend if you like both of them. Additionally, it's a short series so you won't have to spare too much time.

Currently, I'm reading Fantastic Four and FF - Hickman's run... where Spider-man joins the FF team... but if you're looking for Spidey content exclusively, I wouldn't really recommend this one... as his role is very reduced with the main focus being on the Fantastic four family (especially the kids).

That being said, I've heard wonderful stuff about the Ultimate Spider-man run (except the ending I guess), so I'm planning to give it a try next. Lemme know if you wanna read along too... would be fun

I've been reading some of the Ghost Spider comics recently. Would love to give Ultimate Spider-man a try too!

@Blue Spidey's got all the charms Even in the comics, half of the female population probably has dated him / has a crush on him

Butttt.. tbh... I can only ever see Peter with MJ

All Spidey / Torch fics that I read recently were only because I came across some reaaally well written FFs (which reminds me to add them in my page list soon). I rarely give out 5 stars (if ever)... but this one story gave me all the feels and action and drama and... basically whatever I would expect from a superhero romance genre . That lead me to explore more fics by that author... and when I had exhausted them all, I continued reading some more from the Spider-man/Human Torch ship tag. But if you ask me, I would still say that the pairing works better as bros / bffs in the comics.

On the other hand, the friendship/relationship between Spidey and Deadpool always seems pretty one-sided to me (whether in comics or FFs). So no, I don't ship them... I wouldn't even call Deadpool one of Spidey's best friends (unpopular opinion... I'm aware )

When I'm looking for Spidey fics -

OTP - MJ (But I can read him with other characters if the story is well written)

Family - Irondad (with May still alive and other assorted Avengers sprinkled in if possible)

Friends - Ned, Torch, Wolverine, Daredevil, Harley Keener, etc

Avoid - Gwen (I don't do sad endings well), Felicia and Osborns - both dad and son (don't like these characters much and find them overrated)

@red same! He's such a brat, but... he's kinda like those younger brothers that you know are only there to be a pain in the ass, but you still can't help but love them

@blue: Peter always lands all the ladies bro he had the rizz before anyone even knew what rizz was

But I don't ship him with anyone bcz I know, with how selfless he is and the kind of Parker luck he has, he's never really gonna enjoy that long lasting happiness with anyone. So I stay detached from all his love interests. It hurts seeing life be unfair to him at all times I've never really liked MJ (Mary Jane) in the comics or in the movies, Gwen was everything 🤌❤️ but ofc they took her away I'm also not really a Zendaya fan like everyone else on the planet, so I never got obsessed with the current MCU MJ either. I liked her character and I liked that Peter was happy with her, but as always it's all ruined now 🙃🙃

Stuti yaar, you and I really have such similiar opinions in mcu. You're the first comic lover I've met besides me who doesn't ship Spideypool 😭 I've always thought that ppl pair them up simply bcz they're both supremely OP and snarky mouthed. And I get it, their dynamic is very interesting bcz they actually match up to each other (and matching up to DP is a rarity by itself) but... I just don't see the romantic potential between them 😅

I've never really read any Torch/Spidey fics! Hit me with some recs (no guarantee when I'll get to them but lemme have some good ones on hand just in case 🤭) I absolutely can't imagine any romantic potential here but maybe the fics can change my mind as well (it's been known to happen before )

Otp - Gwen forever ❤️ I'll read any HEA fics with these two (yes, I'm very happy deluding myself ). For all the other ships - idc. Can keep him single or pair him up with anyone, I don't mind. As long as the story feels interesting, I'll read it.

Fam - for mcu Spidey - Tony, pepper and may, with other avengers sprinkled (I especially love when Nat pops up). For comic Spidey - I care less about his family and more about him kicking ass

Friends - ned, harley, DP, DD, and for some reason I really love seeing Spidey and Hulk interact xD I also like Torch and I think their dynamic works really well, but most of the times Idrc about them lol

Avoid - no one really 😅

I like James McAvoy as Charles Xavier very much. So, I was looking for fanfiction based on Professor X. I saw that there are many love stories featuring Professor X and Magneto. It seems many people ship them.

I liked MJ in the comics (barring the last few years ). I detested Kirsten in the first Spider-man trilogy but like Zendaya in the new ones (especially her pairing with Tom)... so hoping that they end up together in the future (despite current storyline suggesting otherwise )

I love Gwen... both in comics as well as the ASM movies... even more so in the Spider-verse films . But with her character, it's always a risk... and after having read through a couple of good FFs only to have my heart broken in the end, I decided to avoid stories with her tag (unless it's by an author I trust to give me an HEA). After spider-verse, I actually read a fair few FFs of her pairing with Miles... and they're great! Spider-verse fics tend to keep them both alive.. so I can freely peruse that tag

Both DP and DD were inspired by Spidey.. after his comics became famous. In DD, they went with the senses and swinging stuff a bit... for DP they decided to take the snark and jokes. As you might notice, even their costumes are inspired by Spidey's own (including the color). So, both of these characters play off well with him... but I wouldn't ship either . I've read some Team Red FFs and they are good... but only as buddy cops style action... not for anything else .

Oh! How could I forget Hulk... of course.. I like Hulk and Spidey (Bruce and Peter too)! The comic panel where Spidey "defeats" Hulk with a knock knock joke is one of my favs . As is the one where Hulk says he remembers Peter (after the spell) because it only worked on Banner not Hulk... I would loooovvve to see a scene like that in MCU

About shipping him with Johnny, I never did that while reading the comics... it's only after reading all these FFs that I can somewhat see it now... the story that first drew me in is "only the pure of heart" by "miniature_pineapples" on AO3. It is a fairly long OS... but everything I want from a rom-com with a dash of action and superhero hijinks on the side. I'll add the links in the excel sheet tomorrow... so you can check directly from there .

We should have a MCU or even a general Marvel forum here 🤔. I'm sure there are plenty of fans on IF... it would be fun to discuss the latest movies or comic plots and stuff... but I guess uske liye IF ke alawa places hai

I'll admit I've never read X-men (neither comics nor fan-fics) except when they crossover with the Avengers or other titles... but I've seen this ship featuring very frequently as well
