The funny thing is I borrowed another book called My big, fat, fake marriage - read a couple of chapters and decided it wasn’t for me either smiley29. What’s it with me and fake marriage trope? smiley39

Omg you're telling me? I'm obsessed with fake relationships! Also contract marriage, forced marriage, arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, not intended bride... basically there's a theme here, I think you get it smiley37

Atp I've read so many books and fics of these tropes that they've all started to merge in my head into one blurry mess smiley37 idek what happened in which book, I just know whether I liked it smiley36

I go through these stories like cheese balls. Keep going one after the other without bothering how much you're consuming smiley37

I have a ton of fake relationship books lined up - if I find any worth recommending, I'll let you know smiley9

Also I'll probably not be reading anything at all in June, but in July after my exams, we could buddy read some romcoms together smiley10

Oh, a good one that I read last month was Luck of the Draw by Kate Clayborn. Dunno if you've read it. It's sort of hate to love but the hate is one-sided bcz the FL is basically trying to gain forgiveness from the ML. But the underlying attraction is pretty instant smiley36

Also they like fake date for a bit (which was the original plan) but the guy is horrible at it smiley44 the only time they appear natural is when they don't really have to pretend anymore smiley36

It was heavier than a typical romcom I think, but also lighthearted and wholesome where it needed to be. I really liked how the relationship grew. You can check it out if you like.

But really, where are the books with the fake kisses that are "only for show" but turn out so surprisingly good that it makes them forget that there's an audience and then they get in that daze and when they break off they're both like, damnn.

Where are those books?!!!

I haven’t read this one - will check it out!

@Bold: Right? The tension is unmatched in this scenario especially if it’s enemies to lovers 🤌! Idk if you’ve watched Leap Year but I rewatch it just for that fake kiss scene - Matthew Goode and Amy Adam’s enact it so well. The movie is cheesy by that scene is pure gold!

I’m reading a book called To have and to heist by Sara Desai & there was a fake kiss scene in it but unfortunately the execution did not land well and I did not feel the chemistry between the leads. smiley13

I have watched Leap Year twice! That kiss scene is def very cheesy but then, that's how romcoms are supposed to be, aren't they smiley36

My favourite though, is The Proposal. That first (fake) kiss between Andrew and Margaret always makes my heart flutter so stupidly 🙈

The Proposal is my favourite romcom of all time, I keep it downloaded everywhere and I've lost count of how many times I've watched it smiley42smiley27

Oh, I've seen that book in my amazon recs, I think! How is it so far, barring the fake kiss?
