I also started watching after Castle because I used to love that show (until it went crazy in the last season and totally lost its initial charm). But I must admit that if Chenford weren't around, I wouldn't have continued to watch the Rookie even for Nathan. In fact, I feel his relationships are the most boring parts of the show. The so-called supporting cast is more interesting to watch (except Nyla, who has become tiresome now).
I had seen one Youtube clip where apparently Chenford was never initially planned, but got incorporated due to audience reaction. I don't know if it's true, because Melissa & Eric were crackling from the first scene itself. It felt very organic to me. Except a very few scenes, I think I have loved each and every small moment they have had. In fact, I like the unromantic friendly/angsty ones more than the outright romantic ones.

I watched it in 2024 when I heard it would be added on Netflix FR. Then, we got the S4 and S5 this year. However, I managed to watch S6 and now S7 while the current one is airing.
The last season of Castle was a letdown because of some internal issues. Too bad!
As I said earlier, I started it for Nathan, and I'm happy about him portraying Nolan. However, he is not my favorite (not in my top 3). Even though he is the "lead," I feel there are better characters than his that deserve more screen time and have a better story to tell. I feel sorry for Wopez and Nyla because they focus on unnecessary plot, so we kinda lost them. The OGs are neglected!
Apparently, it's true (show's executive words). Even though I watched the show in 2024, I had never seen any spoilers before I started it, and from the first episode, I knew Chenford was a thing. It was obvious!
Which scenes did you not like about them?
Yes, definitely! (bold) I kinda miss that and their chaotic duo.
I loved all their moments, but I feel they rushed into their first relationship (pre-breakup). Like (thanks to the fans and their chemistry), they gave us Chenford, but too soon, or should I say, not the right way. The slow burn was fine. However, after Jackson's death, we had their first hug/ realization, but nothing more until S5. That was insane! For me, S5 Chenford was not ready, and I was glad about the 6x06 breakup (though the season was too short).
