Pitch Report | Murali Kartik and Matthew Hayden:Some rain-clad mountains, there's a bit of rain in the air. Last game, it was pitch 4, we are on pitch no. 6 but it looks very similar. Dimensions - 61m and 68m square boundaries, 75m down the ground. When we have a look at the surface, it is dry, slightly more cracks, it's got that very abrasive nature to it. Last match here, it did turn a little bit more in the second innings but it's a big-scoring ground. Expect lots of runs. Punjab got 236 the other night and then 199 in defence. Delhi have world-class spinners, it might be worth setting (a target) and then spin will come into play.

Rishi: "The kind of swing Arshdeep got the other day in the second innings, teams might go for bat first on winning the toss" -- Could certainly be an option. Plus, in pressure games such as this, runs on the board are always handy.

This is the pitch report, conducted before the rain arrived: The square boundaries are skewed - 61m to the right-hander's off side when bowling from the South Pavilion End, and 68m to the other side, with a 75m hit straight down the ground. Matthew Hayden says it looks very similar to the other night. Looks dry and has a few more cracks, although Hayden still reckons the runs will flow, by virtue of this being a high-scoring ground. A tricky decision for the captains at the toss. DC might not mind setting a total with the spinners they have, he adds, and Murali Kartik concludes saying batting first could be a viable option.

The rain is still on. In fact, it's steady rain now. The square is under covers.

Mahi: "Any toss update. Is it still raining?" -- No word on the toss because the rain continues to fall. The square remains entirely covered

7:32pm The crowd's enthusiasm has not dwindled and they look to be in high spirits, despite the rain. And right on cue, it seems that the rain has eased off, with the ground staff now hovering around the big cover engulfing the square. The super sopper is in operation too, although a couple of umbrellas are still up among those on the field. The rain may not have stopped, but does not look as heavy as before.

The rain is easing up. The groundstaff's first task is to remove the water off the covers.

7:35pm The two on-field umpires are now heading out and crucially, they have their umbrellas tucked by their side, which is the clearest indication yet of the rain relenting.
