Part Six: Abhira’s Confusion and Resolve
Abhira’s POV
The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving a gentle dusk glow when Abhira finally exhaled. The weight of Ruhi’s confession still clung to her chest—like a storm cloud refusing to pass.
Her emotions swirled:
Anger at Armaan’s careless words, his public outbursts, the way he made her tears invisible.
Confusion over the flutter she felt whenever his name crossed her mind, an echo of affection she couldn’t explain.
Betrayal that the man who vowed to protect her had become the architect of her pain.
She looked inward, heart pounding. Is this love-tainted anger, or something else? Memories mingled with doubts. She recalled his regret-laced silence, the tremble in his voice when Ruhi revealed his guilt, the way he still defended her honor in the courtroom. A part of her recognized the man she once loved in every careful gesture.
But trust doesn’t mend overnight.
Abhira stood, brushing imaginary dust from her kurta. “I need time to heal,” she whispered. She needed the warmth of her Goenka roots—Manish and Swarna’s reassuring hugs, Surekha’s gentle humor, Ruhi’s steadfast presence, and little Laddu’s laughter tumbling through the halls.
She would withdraw from the Poddar world for a while. No more courtroom duels beside Armaan until her heart found solid ground. She would immerse herself in family dinners , in late-night conversations with Ruhi over piping hot noodles, in playful chases with Daksh across the courtyard.
Here, among her own, she would rediscover the spark Ruhi said had faded. She would learn to stand for herself again, to listen to her own voice and her own needs.
And when she was whole once more, she would face Armaan—not as a wounded wife seeking answers, but as a woman ready to choose her path, whether beside him or apart.

Part Seven: Forgiveness Denied
The next morning dawned bright and clear as the Goenka family gathered for a much-needed picnic by the serene lake. Abhira, Ruhi, and little Daksh—her ever-cheerful Laddu—spread a colorful mat under a sprawling banyan tree. The air smelled of fresh grass and homemade kachoris, and the gentle lapping of water set a peaceful rhythm.
Abhira laughed as Daksh chased dragonflies, his tiny legs pumping furiously. Ruhi leaned back on her elbows, sipping Tea and watching her sister’s smile return with every playful squeal. Surekha joined them with more snacks, while Badi Maa and B Nanu prepared sandwiches, their eyes soft with relief to see Abhira’s spark returning.
For a moment, the world felt whole again.
But the tranquility shattered when Abhir appeared at the picnic’s edge, his expression contrite. He approached slowly, clearing his throat. “Abhira,” he began, voice low, “I need to say I’m sorry. For everything…”
Abhira froze, Daksh dropping a flower in surprise. Ruhi sat up, her heart pounding.
“Sorry?” Ruhi’s voice cut through the quiet like a knife. She pushed herself to her feet and stepped between Abhir and Abhira. “You think one sorry fixes the betrayal and suffering you caused her?” Her eyes blazed. “You and Charu tore kiara's life apart she lost her innocence. Abhira and i lost our trust, peace, our very self!”
Abhir’s face paled. He opened his mouth, but Ruhi continued without pausing:
“Do you remember how she begged for Kiara’s freedom, how she stood alone against our own family? Do you recall because of you and Charu how Armaan and Rohit treats Abhira and me , you and Charu shattered everything?” Ruhi’s tears glistened. “You never faced our pain. You only cared about your own self and same for Charu , she didn't even think about her sister for once.
Abhira’s eyes filled as she watched Ruhi challenge the man they once called brother. Abhir’s shoulders slumped. He whispered, “I’m sorry, Ruhi. Abhira—I’m so, so sorry.”
But Ruhi shook her head, furious. “Sorry isn’t enough.” She turned to Abhira and wrapped an arm around her. “Come on, Let’s go back to our picnic.”
Together, the sisters walked away, Daksh tugging Abhira’s hand, leaving Abhir standing alone by the water’s edge—haunted by the storm he had unleashed.
But then Abhira rose from Daksh’s side, her face composed. She placed a gentle hand on Ruhi’s arm. “Ruhi, it’s okay,” she whispered, guiding her sister back.
Abhira walked calmly toward Abhir, Daksh trailing behind, his small hand in hers. Abhir looked up, guilt etched into every line of his face.
“We loved you, Bhaiya,” Abhira began, voice steady but cold. “We stood by you through every choice you made. I defended you when no one else would. We celebrated your successes and shielded you from consequences because we believed in you.”
Abhir’s eyes filled. He swallowed hard, unable to speak as she continued.
“But you became so selfish. You took Kiara’s heart—broke it into pieces—without a second thought for her feelings or mine. You shattered our faith in you, the brother we cherished.”
Her gaze hardened. “You broke the code of family, the bond you swore to honor. And when you and Charu hurt Kiara, you felt no regret. Neither of you showed even a flicker of remorse.”
Abhir’s lip trembled. He opened his mouth to apologize, but Abhira raised her hand.
“Don’t speak,” she said. “Just listen”. I need you to understand how deeply you’ve wounded us.”
She turned, taking Daksh’s hand. “I hope one day you find your conscience—and maybe, then, find a way to heal what you’ve broken.”
With that, Abhira led Ruhi and Daksh away, leaving Abhir alone by the lake, his regrets echoing louder than any apology ever could.

Part Eight: A Birthday Amidst Storms
The Poddar mansion was unusually quiet for a house preparing for a child’s first birthday. Amidst the weight of unresolved tensions, Ruhi stood in the center of the living room, holding a tiny party hat in her hand. Her eyes were swollen—partly from the lack of sleep, mostly from the sting of her husband’s words the night before.
“I just don’t think it’s the right time to celebrate,” Rohit had said, his voice tight. “Look at everything falling apart around us.”
“Falling apart?” Ruhi snapped, trying to hold herself together. “Daksh is turning one, Rohit! Are we supposed to pretend he doesn’t deserve happiness just because your family is drowning in their own mistakes?”
“That’s not what I meant, Ruhi!”
“Then what did you mean?! That I should shut up and pretend like none of this is happening?”
Rohit’s frustration boiled over. His voice rose—too high for his usual calm demeanor—and in a moment of blind emotion, his hand came up and struck her.
Silence.
Even he froze in disbelief at what he had done.
Ruhi stood shocked. Her hand on her cheek. Eyes wide with tears she didn’t let fall.
Before either could react, Armaan and Madhav rushed in. Armaan grabbed Rohit’s collar, fury blazing in his eyes. “Are you out of your mind?!”
Why are you acting like I did?
Please… don’t turn into me.
I lost my Abhira because of the same mistakes… I pushed her away.
We lost our baby…
Don’t go down the same path.
Madhav separated them, his voice firm. “Enough! This has gone too far. This house… this family… what are we becoming?”
Other family members gathered, and soon it was a whirlwind of voices. Accusations, guilt, blame—everyone was quick to judge Abhir,Ruhi and Abhira. And yet, no one said a word to Charu.
Ruhi’s heart clenched. “Why is it always us?” she cried out. “Why is it always Abhira and me? Abhir and Charu made the choices—why are we paying the price?”
No one had an answer. Just more silence. Just then, the bell rang.
The Goenka family entered, holding gifts, smiles, and a warm energy that cut through the tension like sunlight after a storm. Manish Goenka walked up to Ruhi and Abhira with a calm, firm smile. “We came to celebrate our Daksh. It’s his day, no matter what.”
Madhav turned to the family. “We’re not going to ruin a baby’s first birthday with our mistakes. Let’s keep our bitterness to ourselves, at least for today.”
Reluctantly, the Poddar family agreed. By evening, the mansion was being decorated.
Ruhi, despite her bruised heart, looked at her son and made a promise silently: I’ll give you joy today, no matter what.
She turned to Abhira with a faint, hopeful smile. “Please… plan Daksh’s birthday. Only you can make it special.”
Abhira hesitated, but saw the plea in her sister’s eyes and nodded. “Of course, Ruhi.”
Soon, she was surrounded by Aryan, Kiara, and Krish—who were more than happy to help. Kiara, surprisingly, was enjoying herself for the first time in days. She laughed at Abhira’s witty remarks, teasing Krish when he struggled with balloons.
“I forgot how fun this could be Bhabhi,” Kiara whispered, watching Abhira boss Krish and Aryan around.
“I don’t even remember you all,” Abhira said with a soft chuckle, “but this feels… familiar.”
Meanwhile, Armaan watched from the hallway. His gaze followed Abhira—her focus, her gentle smile for Daksh, the way she carefully picked decorations he once remembered she hated because they were too flashy. Yet, she chose them because Daksh liked them.
A soft ache stirred in his heart.
She had changed. Or maybe, she was returning to the version of herself he fell in love with. But he dared not go close. He kept his distance, quietly doing things she might need—fixing the broken table leg, arranging extra lights, guiding the caterers.
Abhira noticed everything, yet chose not to react. This wasn’t the time to stir emotions. This day belonged to Daksh.
Ruhi and Rohit shared a few cold glances, but she masked her pain. After the party, she decided, I’ll take Daksh and go to the Goenkas’ for a few days. I need to breathe.
As evening neared, fairy lights twinkled, music began to play, and laughter started to fill the air. For the first time in a long time, the Poddar mansion felt alive.
But beneath the lights and colors, some hearts remained broken, some love silent, and some wounds yet to heal.
