Don't know about others but most of them belonging to general merit have always given unconditional support to BJP n modi. No matter what actions they took we always supported them.

I belong to that General merit category which is probably only 2% of total population in the current scenario. We are looked down upon by every political party, people hate us only because our community was considered as the upper class and the custodians of knowledge- vedas and Upanishads. Even today , the so called minorities and Dalits look down upon us and they get preferential treatment over us everywhere. Despite that, majority from our community never ever asked for reservation benefits and most of them get jobs, seats, promotions on their own merit.

So, saying things like uppercaste ko reservation milgaya tho Rona dhona band hojayega is lame. Hume nahi chahiye bhai.We never asked for it.

Hamare log neet,ias,jee mein top 10% ranks leke dikhate hein. Koi reservation ka rona nahi rota hei. Kabhi kabhi kuch candidates ke sath galat hojata hei n ek non deserving reservation candidate ko mil jate hei seats.

We only asked to remove reservations n give equal opportunity to all.

Although I don't think it will divide Hindus as GCs don't have any option and it may consolidate the the votes of other castes too, which I understand is also very important. It is a fact that samvidhan khatam kar denge was considered as reservation khatam kar denge in UP which led to the loss of votes for them. Also the rampant leaking of exam papers that happened. In a state that is still trying to industrialize reservation remains a hope for better life for many people. However, it does deflects attention from the current crisis. It may not reflect in the votes of GCs but BJP has taken this Caste Census straight from the Congress booklet and that booklet contained Jitni Aabadi utna haq after caste census. Will make people uncomfortable certainly.. I personally do not at all want discussions or attention to at all deflect from the present national crisis.

I have nothing to say whether it's good/bad it will have an effect of not. That's everything about next steps.

Right now I am just talking about the current step. When Rahul Gandhi called for caste census, every BJP supporter was calling against it, saying it was such a wrong statement/request being made by him. How Rahul Gandhi will never be able to get it done as he is in opposition and BJP is sane to not do it. And so and so.

But with this one step, now they will have to defend caste census.

What if not trolling is it? Maybe government has its reasons to do this. But from perspective of his supporters this is trolling situation

Take this thread as an example, notice how the main issue got derailed by the caste census debate. Even though most people agree there is nothing inherently wrong with conducting a caste census, the discussion still got sidetracked. Its a highly sensitive topic and if a thread that was clearly focused on terrorism can get diverted for even 2-3 pages, imagine how easily public attention can be swayed. Im pretty sure it wont have much impact if the news doesnt gain much traction but in today's times, even a small diversion can give opposing forces an opportunity to shift the entire narrative. I just hope nothing like that happens and the public stays focused on the current major issue of pak terrorism.

But not sure why I am getting a feeling that this was actually announced now for a reason.

Probably government actually wanted people to shift focus to something else at least for time being

I am not a political analyst so could be extremely wrong, can't even explain why I think so or why would government want this focus to shift but this announcement right now out of nowhere made not sense. It's not that census is starting next month

Probably Government checked the visa records. There was one case of a Pakistani that came to watch cricket match and has since then been untraceable. This guy on the other hand must be one of the traceable one perhaps due to enrollment in college etc.

Imagine the number of illegal ones who would have crossed borders silently and living like locals..

In addition to this his parents could have also been identified to be Pakistanis. I also read somewhere that they need to have renunciation certificate as well after they cease to remain Pakistani nationals. Also the authorities are on opioids these days when trying to detect the illegals. They may have cross checked via various means. I guess they also have the entry exit data. However astonishing is that people were living here for decades. Not possible without bribing. I hope the people who help them forge these documents or let them overstay are also held responsible.. I mean people have been living here for 10, 35, 40 years...

Honestly this whole situation feels like it's out of syllabus, like you are expecting a science exam but the invigilator hands you a math question paper and all you can do is get confused. Still im hoping the terrorism topic wont get diverted on national level.

I was getting a similar feeling regarding this announcement at this time. Maybe they want to divert the attention and dilute the pressure of expectation.

Anyways make that census thread as soon as possible warna ye thread kaha se kaha pahunch jaani hai
