Anyway I think their marriage lasted for 2 months.

And you really think, Ammar would have spared her for 2 months 🙄

The ending was not changed, since they shot it in Nov itself.

A rapist like Ammar wouldn't, inconsistency in the storyline.

In Pakistan women stay at home for 40 days after delivery. Not everyone follows it

For me, Ammar got arrested the next day after rukhsati

The original script was written in 2022 and the director for several revisions done.

I mean they could have made him an accidental killer or thief or even a terrorist and then try to humanize him but deliberately chose to make him a remorseless rap*st and then glorified him. What a shameful and pathetic way to make a joke of the rap* and its victims. The makers of the show should just go drown in chullu bhar paani. 🤢

I still cannot get myself to write a final review that I wanted to and I'm busy as well. So, this is not a review (in full). Good Sir/Ma'am, you have mentioned a few of the things in my head but that was a cluster f$#k. Such a strong direction, strongest cast ever and a thrilling story that kept you guessing till the end only to screw it up in ways unimaginable. There was actually no mystery or thrill as advertised and certainly no twist to justify certain takes or behavior to a better and more logical degree.

Truth is I'm somewhat disturbed. Not by the portrayal or the journey of that individual or the family (this was done well for the most part) but the handling and the thought process of the writer.

It is not about humanizing that's the problem as a whole. I get the good intentions but this is messed up at a certain level. It is making a thrill, a suspense and a wait game out of something that is the most heinous crime in humanity as a thrill bait. Why touch a topic when you can't handle it with dignity and sensitivity and when you can't give the time and when it wasn't even needed to serve the narrative. The same ending could have been shown and would have been more impactful when you drive a few concrete points (without going off on tangents) home without disrespecting incredibly vulnerable topics. This wasn't the place for that when so much was already going on (widowhood, inheritance of female orphans, remarriage, working rights, right to self determination, and very importantly parenting and consequences). I know people will disagree and explain it away and yes there's an aspect (people do have some logical points) to it but believe me somewhere in my heart and especially conscience something in the way it was written and handled feels like a below the belt blow. I cannot quite word it so I'm refraining from saying more. Maybe in a day or two I will be? I have many thoughts swirling around and at the same time over it.

Below is a good read:

What an apt review of QEJ today on Something Haute. Totally loved it and agree on everything. They actually ruined the drama

I am not, I am mad at myself for being tricked into watching a story that humanised a rapist. Maybe only Nashwa and Burhan together, but those two barely had any scenes.

Actually even I am missing Nashwa and Burhan only. Will never forgive the writer for ruining my 2 most favorite character only to glorify a criminal. I can't believe the writer butchered Burhan character despite being based on her father.

I have so many questions in my mind.

But I still miss this show, because I was so invested in this show for last 5 months, this was topic of discussion in my house for the entire week.

BTW, do you all really think Burhan convinced Ammar to confess his crimes. How did Bakhtiyar come to know. They showed Nothing. Don't know why they ended the show so abruptly. They could have easily shown 1 more episode

Me too, I was so invested. Writer/ Director ne end mein dhoka kerkey pura show kharaab kerdiya. Zabardati Rapist ko heo bananey ke story dekha de

Usama and Yumna need to pair up for another show where they are the actual leads

I don't think Burhan convinced him, werna ik line tu hotey. It would show Burhan in a good light.

The writer shared a story to confirm that Burhan convinced Ammar to confess. However, nothing in the show indicated towards it, lagta hai writer ne kissey aur ke theory per ker soch liya ke ab mein yeh keh detey hoon.

Absurd right, Burhan is based on her father and yet, he was sacrificed to glorify the Rapist
