Idk about the rest of the cast but Snape’s casting is certainly raising eyebrows (& hackles)

The backlash makes sense. Even I don't understand the casting. The whole point of the bullying in Snape's childhood was to show that anyone who acts a bit differently can be bullied, but this will be made into race bullying instead. Snape is not a character who should get a pass for being mean to students, but with the racism in his childhood, he'll suddenly be forgiven for the way he treated Neville and a whole generation will never know that Snape didn't deserve any forgiveness.
