It is now time for the first subject of the championship. Today you're all going to study Astronomy! Below you'll find a crossword and 26 clues divided amongst across and down. You simply have to find the responses and PM them to me. So simple. You can PM me just your list of answers, the completed crossword, or both. Whatever is easiest for you and as long as you label your responses correctly, I will accept. For example, if you write all the down answers first and just write #1, #2, and so on, that is acceptable. Or if you do 1 Down answer is, that's fine. But if you just write 1 to 26 and send me the answers, that won't make sense so I'll reach out again to confirm what you meant.

But, but, but...this is a subject. So just like in any course you have negative marking for a wrong answer and no hints, that's what will happen here. For every right answer you will get 10 points, but for every wrong answer you will lose 5 points. Blanks are blanks. No points gained or lost.

Now the points you earn will be added to your House points. But you also have a chance to earn some bonus individual points (you know to win in your House). People who submit their responses in the first 24 hours will receive a bonus 40 points towards their own score. Submissions received in hours 24 to 36 (as in the next 12 hours) will receive 20 bonus points. No bonus points for those who submit in the last 12 hours.

An important point to note is that the box with the number is actually supposed to contain a letter. I simply made the numbers large enough to read.

The deadline for this round is 13th April 11:59 PM IST. For the 40 bonus points, I will count any entries received until 13th April 12:01 AM IST. For the 20 bonus points, I will count any entries received until 13th April 12:01 PM IST.

Along with the first subject, please note that the second subject is a head-on game. The following games will be played in the following slots. Each house needs to give me 3 names who will play each slot.

A few important notes

Decide who is going to play for each house (there are a total of 3 such subjects). Originally I was going to require each person in the house to play at least 1 such subject to make it fair to everyone, but as some people do not have Discord or the timings may not work for some people I am now leaving it open to you as a house to decide who plays.

You can have the same 3 people play both slots for the second subject.

Each individual who plays this round will get a bonus 50 points (they will get this whether they play 1 slot or 2 slots).

Those not playing will be able to join as audience when their house is playing if they wish. You can only join in audience at the time that your house is playing, not when other houses are playing. For example, if you are from Slytherin, you can only watch Slytherin matches.

If I don't hear from a house by 13th April 11:59 PM IST then I will simply give that house a 0 for the second subject and their competing team will get a chance to play alone and gain points for their house. I am not going to send out reminders for this.

Once you've decided who is playing each slot (and if anyone wants to be in the audience), one person from each house has to PM me the names.
