Team !!TOO LIT TO QUIT!!: Book Talk Reading Challenge April 2025 - Page 12

I've a question. There's a series of short stories that are inter-connected (basically it's just one long story that the author decided to split in multiple 3-4 parters.) The individual tales are too short to qualify the 18000 word baseline but the whole series does. In this case, would it be okay to link the series instead (and count it as one) or should I exclude it from my count altogether?

I can send the link in PM / update in sheet if you wanna check and decide.

I’m reading Draco Malfoy and the mortifying ordeal of being in love - and it’s really entertaining. No real character bashing as such (maybe V mild but it’s all in good fun!) I don’t read HP FFs as such - this is my first one and it’s long! I was planning to pace it out and read 2-3 chapters a day (along with my regular reading) but yesterday got really invested and now am at almost 80% - was reading until I dropped off to sleep

It’s really well-written and the author builds up the plot so well with the details from canon and extra world building that’s added on top of it coming across so believable.

Should be fine if you’re planning to read the whole series and put it down as one entry in your list.

I've already read the parts that have been updated (the author is very quick at updates so it should probably be finished by April end). Was merely asking to know whether I should add it to my count or not . Will do it in a bit.

I was reading a fair bit in the last few days...but most of them were shorter pieces which don't qualify . Might have to be more careful with my fic selections going forth... otherwise I'll end up dragging the score behind 🙈.

P.S. Thanks for the HP fic rec. Since you have mentioned it is v. long, I'll keep it for later when I've more mind space to invest in a long story.

Oh it’s an ongoing story? Are you certain it will meet the 18000 words criterion then by the time the month ends?

The series is already beyond that word criterion... which is why I asked But yes, because it is ongoing, the page count may keep going even further upwards.

Hellooo…. I’m back to work this week and getting back to a routine is exhausting 😂

I am also nearly finished, only 50 pages left to read so I will update tomorrow evening. Only managed the one book.

Actually this month has been more watching than reading for me ... Sorry 🙈🙈

My reading only started last night, I should be done with the book by tomorrow I think 😅
