LSG continue to have the upper hand over MI in the IPL - this is their sixth win in seven matches. And this one was a victory completed by their bowlers. This win would be sweeter considering none of Pooran and Pant came to the party. When Hardik walked away with a five-for in the innings break, it seemed MI could gun the target down. They almost would have done it if not for the thrifty spell from Rathi, who gave away just 21 runs and picked up the wicket of an on-song Dhir.

Off-pace short balls worked well for MI. They picked up 5 for 30 in the 24 such deliveries they bowled. And so to expect LSG take a similar route wouldn't have been outlandish. But they stuck to their death-bowling plans of aiming for the yorker from quite early, which worked for them.
