While Leena did not intend or should I say greed got the better of her…Ani’s characterisation had the potential to make this a story of people who aren’t given to using force to make a point. In situations where even in this patriarchal setting that men may be victims, the story had the potential to move forward with a sensitive portrayal not the shenanigans on display.
Yesterday’s dialogue about Arshi saying I won’t divorce you when clearly there is nothing worthwhile between the two could have been an interesting dynamic if Ami’s attempts to break off and faced with a situation where there is harassment. When some stupid contract papers were signed by Ani ( stupid trope) in some old scene, I felt the story was moving to a stage where Ani will be harassed by Arshi and Shristi..but it all went to a different tangent.
Ani’s characterisation always appealed to me based on portrayal, writing etc of a an extremely decent man, the generally non confrontational man, who will always look to do the decent thing. To all those who keep asking why he said this line or that line…at no stage have I seen or the story portrayed to me that Ani felt love for Arshi that he came to feel for Jhanak.. so I have never been in doubt that some of you keep having..Jhanak was the brief reason for all the courage in the man… when she wasn’t with him, he lost the will to fight. The muddled writing and extreme greed just drove to the ground the potential of the tale… chal chodo
