The problem is that she actually isn't, be it in real life or in fiction. I unfortunately have encountered such Vidya's in real & fiction, who when crossed can flip to be your worst enemy, where it would be hard for anyone to even imagine ki koi itna bhi evil or vile ho sakta hai. Take pados wali show - that ones sasuma is a nightmare & do not get me started on Jhanak.
While ITV has kind of made the older generation a stereotype of being awful to their DILs, unfortunately real life is no better, where even today's MILs are having the toxic attitude that "humne saha hai toh tum kyun nahi sehti ho" rather than actually try to create a better environment for the family where every one can thrive
