Karisma Kapoor's Ex-Husband Sunjay Kapur Forced Her To Sleep With His Friends During Their Honeymoon

Karisma Kapoor once alleged that her ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur auctioned her during their honeymoon and asked her to sleep with his friends.

Karisma Kapoor is a name that needs no introduction. She was one of the highest-paid actresses in B-town in the 1990s. Despite hailing from the first family of actors, Karisma made a name for herself without any Godfather. The actress began her career at the age of 17 and, after initial flops, managed to grab attention with her performances in films like Hero No. 1, Raja Hindustani, Dil To Pagal Hai, Zubeida, and many others.

On the personal front, after a series of controversial affairs and linkups, Karisma tied the knot with a Delhi-based businessman, Sunjay Kapur in 2003. The alliance was set up by Karisma’s mother, Babita Shivdasani, though her father, Randhir Kapoor, wasn’t happy with the same. The wedding gained a huge limelight as it was one of the lavish events of the year and took place at Karisma’s ancestral home, Krishna Raj bungalow in Mumbai.

Though everyone thought it was a happy ending for Karisma Kapoor, who had faced many struggles in her personal life, the reality was far from it. Soon after Karisma and Sunjay’s wedding, cracks started to appear in their relationship. In 2014, Karisma and Sunjay filed for divorce through mutual consent, but things turned ugly when Karisma claimed that Sunjay was not ready to support her financially.

From that moment, Sunjay and Karisma began mudslinging each other and washing their dirty linens in public. Sunjay alleged that Karisma married him just for the sake of money and property. On the other hand, Karisma came up with a shocking accusation against Sunjay: that he tried to auction her off to his friends.

Shocked? Yes, it is true, in one of her pleas, Karisma narrated a disturbing incident from her honeymoon with Sunjay. The actress stated that Sunjay tried to auction her and even forced her to sleep with his friends. And when she refused to do so, he had beaten her mercilessly and even quoted her price to one of his friends.

When Karisma Kapoor filed a case of domestic violence against Sunjay Kapur and his mother

Karisma also revealed falling prey to domestic violence as Sunjay once asked his mother to slap the actress. Narrating the incident, Karisma revealed that during her pregnancy, when she was unable to fit into a dress which her mother-in-law had wanted her to wear, Sunjay had asked his mother to slap her. Karisma had even filed a case of domestic violence against Sunjay and his mother. An officer in his statement had shared:

“We have registered the case and will conduct an inquiry into the matter based on the allegations. We will question Sunjay and his mother in the coming week".

After a lot of drama, Karisma and Sunjay decided to resolve the matter amicably, and the couple was granted divorce in 2016. After the divorce, Karisma received a hefty amount as alimony. As per a report in Mid-Day:

“Karisma will get Sunjay's father's house (in Khar) transferred in her name. Sunjay has to purchase bonds worth Rs 14 crore for the children, which will attract a monthly interest of around Rs 10 lakh."

Karisma Kapoor’s father, Randhir Kapoor revealed was against her marriage to Sunjay Kapur

Karisma Kapoor had known Sunjay Kapur since childhood as he was the brother of her best friends, Superna and Mandira. It was Karisma’s mother, Babita, who arranged Karisma and Sunjay’s alliance. However, her father, Randhir Kapoor was against it. In a throwback interview with the Hindustan Times, Randhir revealed why he never wanted Karisma to marry Sunjay and said:

"Everyone knows our ­credentials. We are Kapoors. We don't need to run after anyone's money. We have been blessed with not only money, but our talent can support us for the rest of our lives. Sunjay is a third-class man. I never wanted Karisma marrying him. He has debauchery in his ­system and never cared for his wife. He has been giving bull*** to her, and living with another woman. The entire Delhi knows how he is. I would not like to say anything more than this."

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur have two children together, Samaira and Kiaan. After the couple’s divorce, Karisma was given custody of their children.
