And my question back to you: is there a rule that fiction stories can't be judged and that people who judge can't watch long sagas? Yes ITV is fiction but entertainment and culture are closely inter-linked. When something wrong is shown, why can't it be questioned? When something wrong is accepted just because it is fiction, it can become culturally accepted and influence society negatively. A lot of misogynistic things are portrayed in the show and these qualities are being promoted through leads. To a young girl, it's a problem when she starts thinking that this is the ideal life partner. Have we not looked at TV shows/ books and wished that we had a life partner like this?
And why do writers get away with showing nonsense? Because they think that they can show one or two lollipop scenes and glaze through whatever is wrong. If people were to start questioning and boycotting ITV shows for the wrong things shown, writers will learn.
The converse also applies. It's clearly a problem when anyone who questions and disagrees with whatever is shown is just called a hater. There's a thing called critically thinking. It's a problem when wrong things are just blindly accepted because it is done by the leads.
