Today was such a an important episode even from the show's perspective!! The whole character of the ML has been hinging on insecurities and trauma and a burden that were leading to mistakes - some defensible and some not! But finally Armaan is free from all guilt and all that was holding him back in the name of family..
It is a turning point in Armaan's life, indeed. I am so glad he brought up his insecurities and low self-esteem growing up and having to walk on eggshells to be a 'good boy'. He didn't even feel he had the right to make mistakes as a child and expect to be forgiven. I think his obsession with Vidya might have had an element of wanting to ensure he did nothing to lose her affection. He knew deep down it was conditional, but Abhira coming into his life and especially Vidya's recent manipulation of him despite seeing his heartbreak was what woke him up. Everything he spilled out had been pent up for years and he kept it all in because he was afraid that talking about this would remove his status of ideal son and grandson in the house, something that he had been fighting to hold up. All for two selfish women who never really cared about him.
He's always known that he wasn't treated the same as the others but learning about Kaveri's cruelty in leaving him at an orphanage, while lying to his father about him being dead must have killed all respect and love he had for her. This is what helped him break free of his psychological trauma and shackles, allowing him to make the right decision for himself and his future. I can't believe that Kaveri, who's all about blood ties, was able to do this to her own grandson. Technically, her link to Armaan comes from her son, Madhav, not his wife/wives so why she never truly accepted him just based on this fact is a mystery. Perhaps once Armaan leaves she will truly realize his worth but I don't expect her pride to allow her to see this any time soon. I won't be surprise if she and Vidya, with the help of Sanjay, continue playing their dirty games. I also hope Armaan won't give in to Vidya's crocodile tears later and forgive her that easily. She will never change - she's been this manipulative from day one and now that her trump card Armaan has found his biological mother, why can't she just leave him alone? She can shower her pure love on her 'real' son Rohit the way she did after Arman first got married.
Rohit Purohit is slaying this week. I've loved him since he played Alexander The Great in Porus with such intensity, and I'm so glad to see them tap into his potential in this track. Hope it continues.
