Kaveri will get her comeuppance from Sanjay Bansal

And Vidya by fate

RoPu’s dialogues and emotional intensity in those scenes are absolutely on point. Not sure how it’ll translate on screen, but the BTS is definitely raising my expectations!

Kanwaljeet Singh, in a recent interview, said he apologised to Sanya Malhotra after the screening of Mrs …because he didn’t quite realize how toxic his character was while shooting ..it was only when he saw the film in its entirety that he felt disgusted by what his character had done …I mean an actor cannot defend their character to death simply because they’re playing it …I saw an interview of an actor who plays a sexual deviant ..and an interviewer asked him how he would defend his character ..and he took off on him saying he did not need to defend every character he played ..if the character was vile, then he would be the first to call it out ..

I think actors surely need to take cognisance of what they’re defending before they set out to do the same 🤷🏻‍♀️

NEVER. The unmatchable toxicity of that show is something I heard from a friend who’s actively watched it and is also watching YRKKH right now.

Madhav as such was more active in papa meri Jaan phase .. now the cat got his tongue

Yeah, that's true. That woman hadn't even graced the screens and the hype was next level! But again, the criticism is directed at Shruti, the actor who insists on defending Vidya, not Vidya, the character who defends herself. There’s a huge difference between portraying a role and actively excusing that role’s toxic actions in real life. That being said, Shruti is undoubtedly a powerhouse of talent.

Oh, absolutely! It’s one thing to immerse yourself in a character, but it’s a whole other thing to become them. I get that playing a role for a long time can mess with an actor’s perspective, but Shruti defending Vidya like she’s some tragic heroine is next-level concerning. Like, ma’am, blink twice if you need help.

At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if she starts handing out badduas in real life too. Perhaps Shruti needs a therapist? (With all due respect to people battling mental disorders).

Yup exactly. Itv already boht toxic hai. Agar celebs hi iss tarah k characters ko defend karte rahenge tou we will never get to see any change in dramas or their scripts. We will be stuck with such toxic shows.

Yes even I saw that interview. Celebrities should be really careful when they are speaking about their characters on public platform.

Yes. An actor’s job is to portray a character, not become their personal defense attorney. It’s refreshing when actors acknowledge the flaws in their roles rather than trying to justify toxic behavior. Kanwaljeet Singh realizing his character’s toxicity after watching the film shows a level of self-awareness that more actors need to have.

Not every character needs a redemption arc in real life. If a character is vile, then owning up to that instead of sugarcoating it is the way to go. Trying to defend every role just because you played it makes no sense—acting is about storytelling, not personal endorsement.

Actors should absolutely be mindful of what they’re justifying. If even they start blurring the lines between fiction and reality, how can they expect the audience to separate the two?

So let me get this straight—I totally get that actors spend hours embodying their characters, which makes them naturally attached. When you live and breathe a role every day, it stops being just a script—it feels personal. It’s understandable that they defend them to some extent. No issues there. But Shruti doesn’t just defend Vidya; she rewrites history like she’s the show’s secret scriptwriter.

Vidya never used Armaan as a shield? She always stood up for him when KP cursed him? She was a good mother to him? Where? When? Did we miss an episode? Because last I checked, Vidya was passive at best and complicit at worst. Even Anita Ma'am doesn’t shy away from accepting her character's flaws. At least she acknowledges that her character has done some messed-up things. Shruti, on the other hand, acts like Vidya is the Mother Teresa of the Poddar family.

I don’t get why she hesitates to acknowledge Vidya’s misdeeds. It’s not like owning up to a fictional character’s flaws is some personal attack. No one’s asking her to apologize on Vidya’s behalf—just to stop making up scenes that never happened. Defending a character is one thing, but rewriting entire narratives to make her look better? That’s next-level delusion.

And let’s be real, it’s not a bad thing to play a flawed character. In fact, it’s what makes roles interesting. The best actors don’t shy away from the ugly parts; they embrace them. That’s why Anita Ma'am comes across as self-aware and fun—she knows her character is a mess and rolls with it. Meanwhile, Shruti is out here doing PR for Vidya like she’s running for election.

It’s exhausting. No one hates Vidya just because she’s imperfect—we hate the gaslighting that comes with pretending she never did anything wrong. Own it, move on, and let us drag Vidya in peace.

I don't want to hate the actress so I'm not watching that interview. SU is delusional the way she justify Vidya character. It makes me wonder about her, in real life do Shruti ever admit to her mistakes or always have an excuse and is always something or someone else fault smiley7

Absolutely. If celebrities themselves keep justifying these problematic characters, it just enables lazy, regressive writing. When actors blindly defend toxic roles instead of calling them out, it sends the message that such narratives are acceptable—even desirable.

Change in scripts and storytelling will only happen when both creators and actors take accountability. If even the people portraying these characters refuse to acknowledge the damage they perpetuate, how can we expect the industry to evolve? The audience is already tired of the same rinse-and-repeat toxic tropes—we deserve better.
