It certainly has not aged well, but this kind of acting worked in the 2010s.
A lot of female characters in films from in the 2010s had this "If boys can do shi*, so can we.." trait attached with them.
Another common troupe was "I'm not like other girls", which is now known as "pick me" behavior. By definition, The Pick Me is the quintessential “not like other girls” trope, a woman who hopes to be seen, and literally picked, by men for being "different".
For e.g. Characters like "Shruti Kakkar" from Band Baaja Baraat, "Dimple" from Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, "Akira" from Jab Tak Hai Jaan, "Bitti Mishra" from Barreli Ki Barfi etc etc etc. will not be loved and would rather be hated in today's times.
Anushka's films are criticized on a regular basis on SM, especially her characters in films like BBB, JTHJ, Badmaash Company.............but they were loved when those films came out.
Hindsight is a very interesting human behavior.

I find the forced, awkward swearing (in English) in BW movies annoying and well, forced & awkward
And agree writing is the problem
Maybe they copy it from some Western stuff and unable to Indianize it or is this how city girls talk in India?

Many people have stupid ideas ,like swearing is cool etc. They think all western women go around dropping f bombs all day so like anything that's copied in India ,this is taken too far as well. It's like people thinking pasta is fancy food lol. Indian girls do talk like that often these days. I mean I swear often enough to be called foul mouthed by my mother but wow the way some Gen Z chicks talk makes me feel old and embarassed. But the bro thing is a lot weirder. People calling their partner bro or women calling each other bro.
Apart from Tiku Talsania's daughter Shika none of them acted well in this movie.

I recently watched this on Netflix. The whole movie is shallow and bore.
Right up Sonam and Rhea's lane.
I think the acting is fine in this clip
