It doesn't matter. He knew the director and that wasn't happenstance . And it's not as if he waited all afternoon to audition for the role along with thousands of other guys. His audition in this case is more or less a technicality but yes that doesn't mean he's comparable to maha nepos like RK or Salman or whoever.

Salman was not a maha nepo.
His dad was a writer and lost most of his connections and say in industry when his debut was near ..he was influential but not that much of a Kapoor KHANDAAN level who started ruling the screen from 1930s itself in every generation.
So much so that as per Salman he sat at home idle for six months without any film offers even after the release of ATBB Maine pyar kiya.
If I sum up most of the discussion that happened in this thread then it is
Everyone is nepo except my favorite. 🙃🤪😆

Six months is nothing. It happens sometimes even after a hit. He's very limited as an actor as it's not as if he could have accepted any good role that came his way so the no offers part has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Because nepo automatically equals no talent. Meanwhile, some of the most mid top actors are outsiders. Nuance is dead, everything’s either black or white.
Nepo or not, no one will consistently lose money in Bollywood on a nepo child. They would have to see some kind of potential to seriously take a chance.

As if that time in late 80s and early 90s the commercial cinema was filled with Robert di nairo, al pachino, naseer ud din shah level actors...most superstar main lead actors were of salman level or below him, that's a fact.
Salman's acting is discussed as he made fun of himself unlike others (although he proved his talent in all action, romantic and even most difficult comedy films) ...
His contemporaries are mostly of his level of performers be it Akshay, Sunil, Saif, Sunjay or a generation older Sunny, Mithun etc.
Shahrukh was inconsistent, was excellent and great in few roles but even below than Salman in most films due to his hamming and overacting.
The only contemporaries who were truly and consistently better than Salman as actors/performers were Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan.
Salim Khan stopped writing films a long time before Salman's debut, and this selfish cut throat industry regards one until one is truly active.
Salman got benefits but not that much what people think due to Salim's connections.
It was mainly right timings, right films and above all Salman's luck...else Arbaaz and Sohail would not have been such huge flops as actors despite several chances during their brother's unmatched superstardom's era.
