A housekeeping staff has to clean up the room in 7 mins flat including toilets.

I was part of this experience once.

We were given timers and give ratings to the service.

yes exactly it’s not that easy to get work pass in foreign countries especially Singapore

A lot of work for months at a stretch goes into opening a restaurant, it's serious hard work and investment

Yup... that's why the guests stay in and give feedback. The management uses this time to review and correct any mistakes that are spotted.

For example I ordered for French fries in room service and my task was to assess if the fries are soggy or cold.

7 mins includes toilet cleaning, changing bedding and tucking the corners perfectly. Also each hotel chain has its own styling techniques that are taught to their employees. This was a business star hotel (3/4 star) category.

Job is fun but not related to restaurant industry..

I am an Architect and have shifted gears long back but this was a hotel project few years back. The design team was invited to stay at the hotel a week before opening. I was part of the team.

One of the worst experiences of that week (which could be blamed on us) was our contractor didn't seal the pipes properly and one pipeline burst open dead in the night flooding the carpeted corridor of guest room floor 4 days before opening.

God knows what all we did to salvage the floor and dry it out
