The entire week had been leading to this moment. Rose Day, Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Teddy Day, Promise Day, Hug Day—each one had only brought them closer, made them feel things they had once buried deep inside.
And yet, neither of them had said it aloud.
It wasn’t just about words anymore. It was about everything else—the way his eyes searched for her in a crowded room, the way her heartbeat picked up every time he was near, the way they always ended up standing too close to each other, even without realizing it.
And today was Kiss Day.
Kriya wasn’t expecting to see Rey so soon.
She had walked into St. Louis, hoping to get through the day without any major confrontations with him. The past few days had left her feeling too much—his words, his touch, his presence, his damn smirk. She needed space.
But the universe, it seemed, had other plans.
Because the moment she turned the corner near the rehearsal hall, she crashed right into him.
"Whoa, careful!" Rey caught her just in time, his hands gripping her waist, steadying her.
Kriya’s breath hitched. He was too close. Again.
She quickly stepped back, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, trying to ignore the warmth that spread through her skin where he had touched her. "Aap yahan kya kar rahe ho?"
Rey smirked. "Mujhe bhi yahi poochna tha. Tumhe toh mujhse door rehna tha na?"
Her eyes snapped to his, narrowing slightly. "Main—main bas rehearsal ke liye aayi thi."
His smirk deepened. "Sure? Ya phir kisi aur wajah se bhi?"
Kriya rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Rey, aapko har baat ka mazak kyun banana hota hai?"
Rey took a step closer, his voice dropping just slightly. "Aur tumhe har baat se kyun bhaagna hota hai, Kriya?"
She swallowed hard. He had a point.
Later that evening, the entire Weaklings & Dazzlers team had gathered in the rehearsal hall. The vibe was light—teasing, laughter, stolen glances. But Kriya couldn’t focus.
Because Rey was watching her.
Not in his usual playful way. This was different. More intense. More certain.
And she hated that she knew exactly what day it was. Kiss Day.
She tried to distract herself, stretching at the barre, but suddenly the music changed. A slow, sensual tune filled the room, and she barely had time to react before she felt a hand on her wrist.
Rey.
He pulled her towards the center of the room, guiding her into a dance without asking. Just like old times.
She should have resisted, but she didn’t.
Their bodies moved in sync, his fingers lightly trailing down her arm as they twirled, his breath brushing against her skin every time he leaned close. The entire room faded away, the music, their friends—everything except him.
As the song reached its peak, he dipped her low, holding her there longer than necessary. His face was just inches from hers, his eyes dark and unreadable.
And that’s when he said it.
"Kriya, kya tum jaanti ho ki aaj kaunsa din hai?"
Her heart pounded. She could barely breathe.
"Mujhe nahi pata." It was a lie, and he knew it.
Rey smirked. "Sach mein? Toh main yaad dilata hoon. Aaj..." His thumb brushed against her jaw, making her shiver. "Kiss Day hai."
She should have pushed him away. She should have said something snarky, laughed it off like she usually did.
But she didn’t.
Because something in the way he was looking at her made her freeze—like she was the only thing he could see. Like he wasn’t going to let her run anymore.
"Rey..." She whispered his name before she could stop herself.
That was all the invitation he needed.
He leaned in, slow but sure, his lips brushing against hers in the lightest of touches. It was tentative, almost like he was giving her a chance to pull away.
But she didn’t.
Instead, her fingers curled into his t-shirt, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss before she could think twice.
And then—everything stopped.
It wasn’t just a kiss. It was a release of everything they had been holding back—the longing, the frustration, the stolen glances, the unspoken words. It was desperate and sweet, slow and consuming all at once.
Rey’s hands moved to her waist, pulling her impossibly close, while hers tangled in his hair, holding on like she never wanted to let go.
When they finally broke apart, their breaths mingled in the silence between them. Their foreheads touched, neither of them willing to move away just yet.
Kriya opened her eyes first, her gaze meeting his.
"Yeh... kya tha?" she whispered, her voice slightly shaky.
Rey grinned, his hands still resting on her waist. "Mujhe laga, tumhe yaad dilana zaroori hai ki yeh sirf Kiss Day nahi tha, balki tumhare aur mere beech jo chal raha hai... uska ek next step tha."
Her stomach flipped. She knew exactly what he meant.
And this time—she wasn’t running.
"Toh ab?" she asked, tilting her head.
Rey smirked, brushing his lips against her forehead before pulling back slightly. "Ab toh bas tum meri ho, Kriya."
And she didn’t argue. Because maybe... she had always been his.
