The St. Louis College campus was buzzing with excitement as Rose Day kicked off the much-awaited Valentine Week. The air was thick with anticipation, laughter, and the soft fragrance of roses being exchanged all around. Couples, secret admirers, and groups of friends celebrated the occasion, filling the college grounds with shades of red, pink, and white.

But amidst all the enthusiasm, Kriya Ghai stood at a distance, leaning against a pillar, watching the scene unfold before her. Her long, wavy hair cascaded over one shoulder, and her expressive brown eyes flickered with a mixture of amusement and hesitation. She wasn’t really a ‘Valentine’s Week’ person. All this mushy drama wasn’t her thing. But, she couldn't ignore the tiny flutter in her heart as her gaze unconsciously searched for one particular person—Reyaansh ‘Rey’ Singhania.

As if summoned by her thoughts, Rey entered the corridor, looking effortlessly charming in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and his usual confident smirk in place. His presence had an undeniable aura, one that made heads turn, but Kriya knew she was the only one who could see past his charming mask. The real Rey.

And today, that Rey looked particularly mischievous.

Kriya had barely registered his arrival when a bright red rose landed right in front of her feet.

Startled, she looked up to find Rey standing a few steps away, his arms crossed, an unmistakable challenge dancing in his eyes.

"Ek rose toh le sakti ho, Kriya," he teased, his voice laced with amusement.

She raised an eyebrow, folding her arms in response. "Mujhe roses lene ka koi shauk nahi hai, Mr. Singhania."

Rey chuckled, stepping closer, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Really? Toh phir yeh sab dekh kar tum yahan kyun khadi ho?" He gestured towards the couples exchanging roses, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.

Kriya huffed, rolling her eyes. "Main bas... college ka mahaul dekh rahi hoon."

"Haan haan, of course," Rey nodded mock-seriously, before bending down to pick up the rose. "Toh tumhe yeh rose nahi chahiye?"

"Bilkul nahi."

A slow, teasing grin stretched across his lips. "Theek hai," he said, before dramatically turning to the side and holding the rose out to a random junior girl who happened to be passing by. "Agar Kriya ko nahi chahiye, toh tum le sakti ho."

The girl blushed instantly, glancing between Rey and Kriya. "M-Main?"

Something inside Kriya snapped. Without thinking, she stepped forward and snatched the rose right out of Rey’s hand.

"Yeh mera hai," she declared.

Rey’s eyes widened slightly before his smirk deepened. "Mujhe toh laga tumhe roses pasand nahi."

Kriya narrowed her eyes at him before gripping the rose tightly and shoving it into her bag. "Mujhe nahi pasand... par iska yeh matlab nahi ki aap ise kisi aur ko de sakte ho."

Rey chuckled, stepping even closer, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. "Toh phir sach sach batao, Kriya Ghai... tumhe pasand hai ya nahi?"

Her breath hitched. He was too close, his presence too overwhelming. But Kriya was Kriya—she wouldn’t let him win that easily.

She took a step back, crossing her arms. "Bas possessiveness mein aa gaya tha. Kuch aur mat sochna."

Rey shook his head, letting out a low chuckle. "Tum jitna deny karogi, utna maza aayega."

The day continued, and Kriya tried her best to ignore Rey, but he was relentless. Every time she passed by, he somehow managed to slip a new rose onto her desk, inside her locker, or even in her dance bag.

By the end of the day, she had unknowingly collected five roses.

"Yeh ladka mujhe pagal kar dega," she muttered under her breath, staring at the last rose he had left inside her dance locker. But before she could throw it aside, a tiny piece of paper slipped out from between the petals.

Frowning, she unfolded it.

"You can pretend all you want, but this smile of yours every time you see a rose says otherwise. – Rey."

Kriya bit her lip, failing to suppress the grin that fought its way to her lips.

"Idiot," she whispered, tucking the note away.

Unbeknownst to her, Rey stood outside the locker room, leaning against the wall, arms crossed. His smirk widened as he watched her reaction from a distance.

"Game on, Kriya Ghai."

The day after Rose Day, St. Louis College was once again buzzing with excitement. Today was Propose Day, and the atmosphere was even more electric than before. Students were gearing up with heartfelt confessions, romantic setups, and nervous energy. For some, it was a day of new beginnings, while for others, it was a day of heartbreak.

But for Kriya Ghai, it was a day of dodging a certain Reyaansh Singhania.

She already knew he was up to something. The way he had tormented her yesterday with those roses—placing them in unexpected places and watching her reactions with that infuriating smirk—was proof enough. And now, with the entire college witnessing dramatic proposals left and right, she refused to become a part of Rey’s antics.

She pulled the hoodie of her jacket up, adjusted her bag strap, and tried to quietly slip past the college corridor without attracting any attention.

"Oye hoodie wali mystery girl!"

Kriya froze.

Damn it.

Of course, Rey had spotted her.

She turned around slowly, her eyes already rolling before she even saw his face. And there he was, standing at the other end of the hallway, leaning against the wall like he had all the time in the world. Dressed in a fitted black shirt and jeans, his hair slightly messy, and that signature smirk intact—he looked too confident, too sure of himself.

She should’ve known escaping him wouldn’t be easy.

"Main kisi ko nahi jaanti," she replied flatly, turning away.

But Rey was faster. He closed the distance between them in seconds, walking beside her as she tried to speed up.

"Arre arre, itna bhaagna zaroori hai kya? Main toh bas ye pooch raha tha ki aaj ka din kaise celebrate karne ka plan hai?" His voice was dripping with amusement.

Kriya let out a frustrated sigh, gripping her bag strap tighter. "Mera koi plan nahi hai. Aur aapke bhi koi plans nahi hone chahiye."

Rey raised an eyebrow, pretending to be thoughtful. "Hmm… toh tum keh rahi ho ki main Propose Day par kisi ko propose na karun?"

Kriya stopped in her tracks. Her head snapped towards him, eyes narrowing suspiciously. "Propose?! Aap kisiko propose karne waale ho?"

He grinned. "Haan. Kya tumhe problem hai?"

Kriya scoffed, folding her arms. "Mujhe kyun problem hogi? Aap jaake jise chaaho propose kar sakte ho. Mujhe koi farq nahi padta."

Rey tilted his head, stepping closer. "Sach mein farq nahi padta?"

She blinked, suddenly aware of how close he was.

"Bilkul bhi nahi," she managed to say, her voice firm.

Rey studied her face for a moment, his eyes searching hers. And then, without another word, he simply smiled—one of those infuriating, knowing smiles—before stepping back.

"Accha hai," he said casually, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Bas confirm kar raha tha. Tumhe farq nahi padta na, toh phir tumhe koi dikkat nahi hogi agar main aaj kisi aur ko propose kar doon."

Before Kriya could react, he turned and walked away.

Her stomach twisted.

Wait. What?

Kisi aur ko propose?!

For a reason she refused to acknowledge, an odd discomfort settled in her chest. She stood there, unmoving, watching his retreating figure, her mind racing. Was he serious?

The cafeteria was packed with students excitedly chatting about the proposals happening all over the campus. Some were elaborate, some were simple, but every corner of the college was filled with confessions.

And yet, Kriya sat at the far end of the cafeteria, her jaw tight, her fingers absentmindedly stirring the juice in her glass.

Her mood was off.

Her friends were busy discussing the latest proposals, but she couldn't focus on anything. Her mind was stuck on Rey’s words.

"Tumhe koi dikkat nahi hogi agar main aaj kisi aur ko propose kar doon."

Ugh.

Why was this bothering her?!

She scowled, taking a sip of her drink, trying her best to ignore the nagging feeling inside her. But before she could shove the thoughts away, a sudden loud cheer erupted from the center of the cafeteria.

"Rey kuch kar raha hai!" someone shouted.

Kriya’s head snapped up.

And there he was.

Rey stood in the middle of the cafeteria, holding a red rose, smirking in that maddening way of his. Around him, students gathered in excitement, already guessing what was about to happen.

Her heart pounded.

No. He wouldn’t.

Would he?

And then, she watched in horror as Rey turned towards a girl standing nearby.

"Kya tum mujhe apna dil dena chahogi?" Rey said smoothly, extending the rose.

Kriya almost choked.

The girl—a junior from the music department—blushed furiously.

That was it.

Kriya stood up so fast that her chair screeched against the floor. Marching through the crowd, she pushed past people until she reached the center of the cafeteria.

Before anyone could react, she grabbed the rose straight out of Rey’s hand.

Rey blinked. "Uh… Kriya?"

She glared at him. "Aap kisi aur ko propose kar rahe the?!"

He raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying this. "Toh? Tumhe farq nahi padta na?"

"Bilkul farq nahi padta!" she snapped.

Rey smirked. "Toh phir tumne yeh rose kyun le liya?"

She opened her mouth. Then closed it. Then opened it again.

"I… bas… woh… mujhe achha laga yeh rose!" She huffed, looking away.

Rey chuckled, stepping closer. "Toh ab officially accept kar rahi ho ki tumhe farq padta hai?"

Kriya glared at him, her cheeks flaming. "Shut up, Rey."

His smirk softened into something gentler. "Fine. But maano ya na maano, tumne khud hi Propose Day par mera proposal accept kar liya."

She stared at him, speechless.

And just like that, he leaned in, whispering, "Happy Propose Day, Miss Ghai."

Her breath hitched.

And as he walked away, Kriya was left standing there—holding a rose, completely flustered.

The morning air at St. Louis College was filled with sweetness—both literally and figuratively. The scent of chocolates wafted through the hallways as students eagerly exchanged sweet treats, giggling and blushing in the spirit of Chocolate Day. Every corner of the college was a scene of someone gifting their special person a bar of chocolate, a heart-shaped box, or even elaborately wrapped handmade truffles.

But Kriya Ghai?

She was determined to stay unaffected.

Ever since Propose Day, she had been doing her best to ignore Reyaansh Singhania and the effect he was beginning to have on her. That stupid red rose was still sitting in her room, mocking her every time she saw it. Why hadn’t she thrown it away yet?! She had no answer. And today, she had an even bigger problem—she knew Rey wouldn’t let Chocolate Day slide without teasing her.

So she did the most logical thing.

She avoided him.

Or at least, she tried to.

Kriya peeked out from behind a pillar near the library, checking if the coast was clear. The moment she was sure Rey wasn’t around, she swiftly made her way through the hallway, dodging every possible route where he could appear.

She muttered to herself, adjusting the books in her hands, "Bas aaj ka din nikal jaye bina kisi tamasha ke..."

"Konsa tamasha, Miss Ghai?"

Her heart stopped.

Kriya froze mid-step, her grip tightening around her books. That voice—that smug, self-satisfied, utterly annoying voice.

She turned around slowly, already dreading what she would see. And there he was, leaning lazily against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest, his eyes twinkling with amusement. Reyaansh Singhania, in all his irritatingly confident glory.

"Rey," she gritted out, trying to keep her expression neutral. "Aap yahan kya kar rahe ho?"

Rey tilted his head slightly, his lips curling into a smirk. "Main? Bas Chocolate Day ka celebration dekh raha hoon. Aur tum? Aise chhup-chhup ke chal kyun rahi ho?"

Kriya huffed, turning back around. "Mujhe koi chocolate nahi chahiye, okay? Toh aap apni stupid planning bandh kar do."

Before she could take another step, his hand shot out, blocking her way.

"Kisne kaha main tumhe chocolate dene wala hoon?" His voice was playful, but there was an unmistakable challenge in his eyes.

Kriya blinked.

Wait.

Was he not planning to give her chocolate?

Why did that thought annoy her more than it should?

She schooled her expression, narrowing her eyes. "Good. Then move."

But instead of moving, Rey leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a teasing whisper. "Lekin tumhe chocolate lene ka mann toh ho raha hai na?"

Kriya’s breath hitched for a second before she quickly stepped back, masking her reaction with an eye-roll. "Aap apne dimaag ki bakwaas bandh kar sakte ho?"

Rey chuckled, pulling back, his smirk intact. "Fine, Miss Ghai. Tum chaho toh bina chocolate ke din bita sakti ho."

And just like that, he walked away.

No teasing. No more taunts.

Just a simple exit.

Kriya frowned.

Something felt… off.

Did she just lose to Rey in this unspoken battle?

And more importantly—why was she suddenly feeling disappointed?!

The rest of the day passed without any further Rey-related drama, and Kriya convinced herself that she was relieved. But as she reached her locker in the evening, ready to grab her bag and head home, her eyes widened.

Sitting inside her locker, wrapped in dark red paper, was a small, elegant box of chocolates.

Her heart did a strange little flip.

She hesitated before reaching for the box, her fingers brushing against a tiny folded note placed on top.

With bated breath, she unfolded the paper.

"You were running away all day, so I figured I'd leave this here. Don't worry, Kriya Ghai. Yeh koi ordinary chocolate nahi hai. Yeh sirf tumhare liye hai. Sweet dreams. – Rey."

Kriya stared at the note, her heart hammering against her ribs.

Why did this feel… different?

Her fingers tightened around the note as she gazed down at the chocolate box. She should be annoyed, but instead… she felt something entirely different—warmth.

And as much as she hated to admit it…

She smiled.
