🌹 Rose Day - A Silent Confession

The ETF office buzzed with its usual intensity—officers pacing around, discussing cases, their focus unwavering from their duty. But amidst the weight of crime and justice, a subtle air of something different hung in the atmosphere. It was February 7th—Rose Day, the beginning of a week that many considered meaningless, but for some, it carried emotions they would never openly acknowledge.

Sameer Rathore sat at his desk, flipping through a case file with practiced ease. His sharp, calculating eyes scanned each detail with focus, yet there was a flicker of something else in them today. Perhaps he had noticed the red roses peeking from some of his teammates' desks, or maybe it was the quiet anticipation in the air.

Ayesha, ever the composed and efficient officer, walked into the main work area, her usual confidence in place. But as she glanced at the sight before her, she exhaled sharply. On Shree’s desk lay a fresh red rose, most likely from Chotu, who grinned mischievously. Sakshi, too, had a small bouquet from someone—probably one of her admirers. Even Riya’s old desk, which remained untouched in silent memory, had a delicate white rose placed gently in her honor.

Ayesha wasn’t one to believe in such days, and yet, as she glanced at her own desk, she found herself hesitating. There was no rose. Not that she had expected one, but for some reason, her fingers lingered on the empty wooden surface for a moment longer than necessary.

Sameer’s gaze flickered up, sharp and unreadable, catching her brief pause. His lips pressed into a thin line before he returned to his work.

Ayesha straightened, shaking off the thought. Why would she care? This wasn’t something she should even be thinking about. She was an ETF officer first—matters of the heart had no space in her life.

Just then, Sakshi approached with a knowing smile. "Toh Ayesha, tumhe kisi ne rose diya ya nahi?"

Ayesha rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Mujhe yeh sab bachpana nahi lagta? Ek din phool dene se kya farak padta hai?"

Sakshi smirked. "Farak padta hai, Ayesha. Kayi baar woh jo hum keh nahi sakte, ek chhoti si cheez express kar deti hai."

Ayesha exhaled but said nothing. Sameer, who had been listening quietly, shifted slightly in his seat, his eyes unreadable behind his calm demeanor.

The conversation was interrupted when a junior officer walked in, carrying a small bouquet of roses wrapped neatly in brown paper. Everyone turned, curiosity sparking in their expressions.

"Ayesha ma’am, yeh aapke liye hai," the officer said, handing it to her.

Ayesha frowned, caught off guard. "Mere liye?"

She hesitantly took the bouquet, her fingers brushing against the delicate petals. The fragrance was subtle yet potent, filling the air between them.

"Sender ka naam nahi hai, ma’am. Bas ek card hai."

Ayesha’s heart thumped just a bit faster as she opened the tiny card tucked inside.

"For the woman who doesn’t need a rose to prove her worth… but deserves one anyway."

There was no name. No signature. Nothing to trace it back.

Her eyes instinctively flickered toward Sameer, but his face remained impassive, focused on his file as if he had no idea about the situation. Yet, something about his grip on the paper, the faint tension in his jaw—it gave him away.

Ayesha wasn’t one to blush, nor was she someone who let emotions dictate her actions. But as she held the roses, an unfamiliar warmth spread through her chest.

Sakshi grinned. "Lagta hai kisi ko farak padta hai."

Ayesha cleared her throat, setting the bouquet down as if it didn’t affect her. "Yeh zaroor kisi mazak karne wale ka kaam hoga."

But deep down, she knew.

Sameer didn’t look up once, yet when no one was watching, a small, fleeting smirk played on his lips.

And thus began Valentine’s Week… with a silent confession neither of them spoke aloud.

💍 Propose Day - A Confession in the Shadows

The next day, Propose Day, arrived like a quiet storm. The office felt different today—like something was lurking in the shadows, waiting to unfold. The cases were still the top priority, but there was an unspoken tension that clung to the air. It wasn’t just about solving crimes now; it was about something far more complex, far more personal.

Ayesha entered the office as usual, but today, the familiar hum of activity felt somehow distant. She couldn’t quite explain it. Maybe it was the aftertaste of yesterday’s roses, or maybe it was the subtle shift in Sameer’s behavior. She caught him staring at her across the room a few times, his eyes piercing yet unreadable, and every time their gazes met, there was something unspoken between them.

Ayesha sat at her desk, her fingers lightly tracing the edges of the case files in front of her, but her mind wasn’t focused on the cases today. It was somewhere else. Somewhere she didn’t want to admit. Somewhere he had taken her without warning.

A voice broke through her spiraling thoughts.

"Ayesha, kuch kaha tumne?" It was Sameer, his voice clipped but with an underlying tone that she couldn’t quite place.

Ayesha snapped back to attention. "Maine kuch nahi kaha. Aapne kuch bola?"

Sameer nodded, but his attention was momentarily on something else. The tension between them, thick enough to cut with a knife, was palpable. He didn’t seem like himself today—more distant, more preoccupied. It was as if he was wrestling with something internal, something that had nothing to do with their work.

Her phone buzzed, interrupting the moment, and Ayesha quickly glanced down. A message from an unknown number:

“If I had the courage, I would have said it aloud by now. But today, I’m only offering you one thing: the chance to decide if we have something more. Ayesha, will you say yes to us?”

Her breath caught in her throat as she read the message. The words were both a challenge and an invitation, wrapped in the mystery of anonymity. Could it be Sameer? Could it be someone else entirely?

She glanced up at Sameer. He was talking to Chotu, his expression still unreadable, but for a moment, their eyes locked, and there it was again. The flicker. The understanding. But no words. No action.

Ayesha exhaled sharply, pushing the phone aside. Why was she even entertaining this idea?

Later that afternoon, the team was wrapped up in a particularly intense case, but Ayesha couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Every now and then, Sameer would glance her way, his gaze lingering longer than it should have, but when she met his eyes, he’d look away.

It was like he was testing her, pulling her into some silent game neither of them fully understood. But this was Propose Day, and for some reason, Ayesha felt an unsettling pull in her chest—something that wasn’t there before.

As the day wore on, Sameer disappeared into his cabin, a frown etched on his face. Ayesha couldn’t resist anymore. She stood up from her desk and walked toward the cabin, her steps hesitant but determined.

Knocking lightly on the door, Ayesha’s voice was calm but curious. "Sameer, kuch zaroori baat thi?"

There was a moment of silence before Sameer’s voice called out, softer than usual, "Ayesha, andar aao."

She opened the door slowly, her heart racing, not sure why. Sameer was sitting at his desk, his back turned, staring at a photo frame in front of him.

Ayesha leaned against the doorframe, her eyes searching his profile. "Aap… kuch soch rahe ho?"

Sameer didn’t immediately respond. He ran a hand through his hair, his jaw tightening. Then, turning slowly in his chair, he locked eyes with her, the intensity in them almost overwhelming.

"Ayesha, there are times when words are difficult to find. And then there are times when silence speaks louder than anything we could say." His voice was low, deliberate.

She frowned. "Kya matlab hai aapka?"

Sameer stood up slowly, closing the distance between them with purposeful steps. There was something different about him today—an unspoken vulnerability in his eyes that hadn’t been there before. "Matlab yeh hai… ki kuch baatein tumse kehne ki hai, lekin shayad abhi waqt nahi aaya."

Ayesha’s pulse quickened as she felt the heat of his presence envelop her. Was he… about to confess something? She could almost taste the words on the tip of his tongue.

"Sameer, agar aap kuch kehna chahte ho… toh keh dijiye. Main samajh sakti hoon."

His lips curled into a faint smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Tum samajh paogi, Ayesha. Tum samajh paogi ki kuch baatein hum khud ke liye chhupana chahte hain."

Ayesha’s breath hitched, her chest tightening. For the first time, she felt like Sameer was standing on the edge of a precipice, and so was she.

Before she could respond, Sameer’s phone buzzed, breaking the tension between them. He quickly checked the screen, his features hardening again. He glanced at Ayesha. "Case ki update hai. Hum baad mein baat karenge."

Ayesha nodded, her emotions a confusing swirl inside her. He had almost… but not quite… said it.

She turned to leave, but his voice stopped her.

"Ayesha, don’t ever doubt… what could be." The words hung in the air, charged with meaning.

Ayesha didn’t know how to respond, so she simply walked out, her heart pounding louder than the thoughts racing in her head.

As the day drew to a close, the tension between them was thick enough to be cut with a knife. The case had been resolved, but neither Sameer nor Ayesha could shake off the unsettling feeling that lingered. They both knew the unspoken question was now hanging in the balance.

At the end of the day, as the team dispersed, Sameer caught Ayesha’s eye once more. This time, the look was different—there was no distance. No hesitation. Only raw honesty.

Ayesha took a deep breath. "Sameer, you don’t have to hide it. If you want to say something, say it."

Sameer paused, his lips parting as though he wanted to speak, but no words came. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, silver pendant—a heart-shaped locket.

He held it out to her, his gaze intense. "Ayesha, this is for you. Not because of today, but because there’s something I’ve never said. Something I need you to know."

Ayesha took the locket in her hand, her heart racing in her chest. "Sameer, I—"

Before she could finish, Sameer turned slightly away, his voice barely above a whisper. "Propose Day, Ayesha. Maybe it’s time to stop hiding. Maybe it’s time for us to finally speak the truth."

She looked at the locket in her palm, the weight of his words sinking in. This wasn’t just a locket—it was a promise.

"Sameer…" Her voice trembled as she spoke. "I think I’ve known for a while."

The silence between them deepened, and for once, there were no more words left. Just a promise, and the future they both knew would be more than just an unspoken question.

🍫 Chocolate Day - A Sweet Confession

The office was quieter than usual, the hum of the phone lines and clicking keyboards mixing with a deeper undercurrent of tension between Sameer and Ayesha. The events of the previous day—Propose Day—had left an undeniable shift in the air. The locket, his words, and the unspoken emotions were still lingering, both in the room and in their hearts. But today was Chocolate Day, and it carried with it a new kind of challenge—how to make sense of the sweetness in the air, even when their feelings were more complicated than ever.

Ayesha entered the office early, as usual, and was greeted by the usual bustle of the team. But as she took her seat, her eyes darted towards Sameer’s desk. He wasn’t there yet, but she couldn’t shake the anticipation. The tension between them wasn’t just in the way they spoke—it was in every glance, every small interaction. Was it possible for two people to be so close yet so far away?

She took a deep breath and pushed the thought aside. Today, she decided, would be different. She would focus on the task at hand, despite the fluttering in her stomach whenever she thought of Sameer.

The clock ticked on, and it wasn’t long before Sameer entered, his presence commanding the room as always. He moved with purpose, his gaze scanning the room, before it inevitably landed on Ayesha. She met his gaze without hesitation, but instead of the usual fire in his eyes, there was something softer today—a trace of vulnerability.

He walked towards her, his voice breaking the silence. "Ayesha, kuch kaam tha?"

Ayesha looked up, her eyes studying him. There was a different energy about him today—more relaxed, almost playful, and it was a strange contrast to the serious, intense Sameer she usually saw. "Nahi, Sameer. Bas… kaam kar rahi thi." She paused, almost unsure of how to respond, but her heart couldn’t help but race. "Aapko kuch chahiye?"

Sameer smiled, a small, almost mischievous smile that sent a flutter through Ayesha’s chest. "Mujhe chocolate chahiye thi."

Ayesha raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Chocolate?"

"Ha, Chocolate Day hai, Ayesha," Sameer said, his voice light, teasing. "Toh chocolate toh milegi na?"

Ayesha chuckled softly, a nervous laugh escaping her lips. "Aapko kisne bola tha, Sameer, ki main chocolate laa rahi hoon?"

Sameer stepped closer, his eyes narrowing playfully. "Aapko yaad nahi? Kal kuch bola tha, ki aaj chocolate chahiye." His voice lowered, a hint of teasing mixed with something deeper. "Ya phir… kya aap bhool gayi?"

Ayesha froze for a moment, her pulse quickening. Had he really said that yesterday? She couldn’t remember, but her heart was beating faster now. Sameer had a way of making everything feel more intense than it was.

"Sameer," Ayesha murmured, trying to break the tension, "main yeh chocolate kaise laa sakti hoon? Kaam bhi hai, aur—"

Sameer cut her off, his tone now more serious, though his eyes were still twinkling with mischief. "Tumhe chocolate chahiye ya nahi, Ayesha?"

Ayesha blinked, unsure of how to respond. The playful teasing between them had always been part of their dynamic, but today, it felt like something else entirely. "Agar aap chahte hain, toh main laa sakti hoon…"

Sameer smiled at her, his voice low and warm. "Mujhe tumse koi chocolate nahi chahiye, Ayesha."

Her breath caught in her throat, the weight of his words lingering in the air. Sameer had never said anything like this before. His gaze held hers, unblinking. "Mujhe toh kuch aur chahiye."

Ayesha’s heart raced as she tried to process his words. The playful teasing had vanished, replaced with an intensity that left her speechless. What was happening between them?

Before she could gather her thoughts, Sameer reached into his bag and pulled out a small, intricately wrapped box. "Yeh tumhare liye, Ayesha," he said, his voice softer now, almost vulnerable. "Chocolate nahi, lekin kuch jo shayad tumhe zyada pasand aaye."

Ayesha’s eyes widened as he handed her the box. She hesitated for a moment, her fingers brushing against his as she took it. Was he… giving her something personal?

She opened the box slowly, revealing a beautiful handmade chocolate truffle, glistening with a dusting of gold. But there was something more—a small note tucked beneath the truffle. She picked it up carefully, her hands shaking slightly as she read the words written in his familiar handwriting:

"For the woman who’s made my world sweeter. You may not realize it yet, but you’ve become the one thing I can’t live without. Sameer."

Ayesha’s heart stopped. She had expected a playful gesture, a lighthearted gift, but this… this was something entirely different.

Sameer watched her closely, his gaze steady, almost anxious. "Ayesha…" His voice faltered for a brief moment before he spoke again. "I know we’ve been through a lot—work, cases, and everything in between. But, today… I wanted to tell you that you mean more to me than just a colleague. You’ve become a part of me that I can’t ignore anymore."

Ayesha swallowed hard, her emotions swirling inside her. What was happening? Was he really saying this now? She wasn’t sure if she was ready for the intensity of his confession, but she couldn’t look away from his eyes.

"Sameer," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "Main samajh nahi paa rahi hoon…"

Sameer stepped closer, his hand gently brushing against hers. "I know this is complicated. We have our jobs, our responsibilities. But I can’t pretend anymore, Ayesha. I can’t hide it. What I feel for you is real, and I need you to know that."

Ayesha took a deep breath, her eyes searching his face for the truth. She had never expected this. The intensity of his words, the vulnerability in his eyes—it was everything she had longed for, but also everything she was scared to admit.

"I…" She hesitated, her heart racing. "I don’t know what to say, Sameer. Ye sab… yeh sab kuch naya hai."

Sameer smiled softly, his eyes filled with understanding. "Tumhe jawab dena zaroori nahi, Ayesha. Tum bas yeh samajhna, ki jo main feel karta hoon, woh sach hai."

Ayesha’s eyes filled with unspoken emotions as she slowly closed the box, the locket from the day before still hanging in the air between them. She looked at Sameer, her voice soft yet filled with the weight of her own feelings. "Sameer, mujhe… mujhe samajh aata hai."

He smiled, his relief palpable. "Then, that’s enough for now, Ayesha."

And for the first time in a long while, Sameer and Ayesha stood there—neither of them needing to say more. The sweetness of the chocolate, the honesty of his confession, and the weight of everything unspoken had left them standing on the precipice of something new. The journey ahead might be uncertain, but for that moment, it was enough to know that they had found each other.
