"Women have different menstrual cycles. I am a man, and I’ve even heard of women who menstruate once a week. To understand this verse, you first need to understand why women menstruate. In today’s advanced medicine, it is clearly known that a woman’s menstrual cycle is related to pregnancy. So, based on this verse, where would you place a woman who doesn’t menstruate? Why is there no definitive ruling? The idea that waiting is related to pregnancy is something everyone agrees on, both 1000 years ago and today."
normal menstrual cycle lasts 21 to 35 days.
for non-menstruating women or those with other abnormality in cycle, it is considered 3 lunar months. (Quran 65:4)
it is not for determination of pregnancy only. it is a reconciliation period too. that's why it is mentioned in Quran that woman should stay in husband's house during iddat (Quran 65:6)
i hope i made it clear and now you won't try to negate Quran for an onscreen couple.
