However, I must inform you, dear Netaji, that the history books in our country seem to have been edited by someone with a peculiar fondness for selective storytelling. While Mahatma Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru are undoubtedly celebrated for their contributions—admittedly quite photogenic with their spinning wheels and speeches—it seems someone misplaced the chapters dedicated to your audacious endeavours and the roaring courage of others like Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Rani Lakshmibai.

Your Indian National Army, which marched with valor and shook the British Empire, is given a fleeting mention, as if it were an afterthought. Gandhi’s spinning wheel gets an entire chapter, but your Azad Hind Radio doesn’t even make it to the appendix!

It’s not that we don’t respect Gandhiji or Nehru; it’s just that the narrative feels like a Bollywood blockbuster where the side characters—brilliant and pivotal—are pushed to the shadows while the leads hog the limelight.

Rest assured, though, the people haven’t forgotten. We still salute you with a fervor that no textbook can diminish. And the next time someone brings up Gandhi’s fasting, I promise to remind them that Netaji didn’t just fast—he fast-tracked independence!
