In 1943, World War II was in full swing. Various things happened in the Kopić family. One of the most recognized families in Poland at that time was this family. They lived well before the war, but the war hit them unprepared like other families. They fought as best they knew how to ensure at least a little existence for themselves. In that family, in 1943 one Ljiljana gave birth. July 17, 1943. will forever change the course of that family. Her parents were people in their own right. A father who didn't want to go to war, no way, because he couldn't stand war, and a mother who was really a real mother in the beginning. Ljiljana had an older brother who took care of little Ljiljana when she was left alone. Their aunt, mother's sister, was always there for Ljiljana and her brother. They could turn to her for everything in life.

A few months after ljiljana's birth, her father had to go to prison because he did not want to join the partisans, so they were left alone with their mother. Mom often left them alone, and that was simply incomprehensible to her sister, who kept bringing the two of them to her house so that she could take care of them in addition to her own children. My father was in prison for two full years. After a year of his stay in prison, Ljilja's mother appeared at his place to inform him that she was pregnant. The man could not come to his senses from the sadness and pain. And so Ljilja got another brother who was a little younger than her. They, like all children, were not aware of what was happening around them. they just wanted not to be hungry and to be able to play.

And so passed the two years that my father spent in prison. After his release from prison, he divorced their mother and went his own way. She left her two children with her mother who was falling more and more into depression and no one could help her. In the end, her sister took complete care of the children because she did not want to send them to a home. As the war ended, life became a little easier. My aunt's husband started making good money because he had a job at the railway and he also did some jobs that were paid. Ljilja was 6 years old when her mother died of tuberculosis. That's what they said then, and that was enough for everyone, but somewhere there was always a story that slipped through that her heart couldn't stand that her husband had cheated on her and that she couldn't take care of the children.

After her death, the aunt, who took care of them, invited her ex-son-in-law to discuss what to do next. He came with a woman whom he passed off as his fiancee. Her name was Maria. Tall and beautiful with a bun like they wore back then, she gave the impression of a real lady. Marija immediately liked the children and she liked them. All three children stood like orphans, which in a way they are, and looked with admiration at the place their father had brought them. Ljilja looked at her father and with some sadness in her eyes she was aware that everything in life is fleeting and that everyone is replaceable. While their aunt and their father were having one of the most difficult conversations, she and her brothers looked at Maria, who was above all a person

Dad moved to another country and got a job, followed by Marija. They got married not long after and saved up money to afford a smaller house. They lived happily, but Marija longed to have children. It turned out that she cannot remain in another state due to some health problems. She slowly came to terms with the fact that she would never be able to fulfill herself as the mother of her child. They came to Poland every weekend and she became more and more attached to the children. When they could afford to move to a big apartment, Marija told her husband that there was no reason for the children to stay with their aunt and that it was time for them to come to them.

The father immediately accepted that they should come, and then something happened that he forgot about and never asked a question about it. He came to Poland and went directly to the municipality to ask for a birth certificate from a child he knew was not his. The child was registered in the book of births without a father and the mother's last name. He asked about the procedure to adopt him so that he would not feel neglected, and then they told him that it was a long and difficult process. He went to Ljilja's aunt and said all that, and she agreed to keep everything as it is. She said one fact that was very important: children love each other no matter what their last name is. They have the same mother and that's enough. And so it was.

It was explained to Ljilja's brother why the child had a different last name. He had a hard time understanding it, but he accepted it. And so it happened that they all moved to another country to live. Marija saw them as her own children, and she was most devoted to Ljiljana, and she forced her to have manners and to learn everything she needed to know in life. When the time came for them to return to Poland one by one to continue their education, they were at their aunt's again. First, the older brother started to become independent, but he, like his father, liked to have his own, and he started his own, as he called it, adventure for life. That adventure brought him to a small town near Poland where he bought himself a property and married a wonderful woman who bore him three children.

The story of my uncle.

My uncle, who set off to seek his fortune somewhere far away, arrived in a town near Poland, in fact a small town. And he settled there. He and his wife expanded the beautiful estate into a large and playful family where you can always hear laughter and laughter. The estate, which was full of animals and children, was expanding every day. He raised his children and tried to lead them on the right path. The oldest daughter got married and went to Germany and had two beautiful daughters. The middle daughter stayed in that place with her husband, and she made a small empire out of the estate, and the youngest son loved cars so much that he bought old cars to make new ones out of them, and that's how the estate flourished until one day when the eldest daughter did not appear, who informed them that she was returning home. She left the children with her husband and she returned alone. She was sick, she got kidney cancer, which was discovered late, she was in terrible pain and she didn't want the children to see her in such agony, and that's why she came to her parents.

Their happiness faded and they began to neglect everything because of their pain. Nothing was important to them anymore, only her and only her. They sold the horses they had to pay for the powerful drugs to help her, but nothing more could be done. She died after a long and difficult suffering at the crack of dawn with a gentle smile on her face. My uncle, who had a hard time bearing it, saw some changes in himself after a while. He never took a cigarette in his mouth, and in the end he died of lung cancer. The others were all speechless after that tragedy, and they haven't recovered even to this day, and laughter was never heard in their yard again. No matter how hard they tried to bring life into their home, they couldn't.
