I think is bothered by both perceptions about him.

He thinks he is protecting E so better to break from Vivian. He gains three things from doing this; he is no longer seen as an assistant, plays his own game and the Karan/Arjun monopoly is broken.

He is at risk of being labelled Gunda's puppet though. Depends on how it is shown...

He has kind of sensed the bias coz Vivian and kv were called into CR for his eisha and Dvs fight. He dint like that. He was telling eish do you not know whats happening? Also he is bored of maa betas narrative and wants to break it from vivians side I suppose
