In India, I think trp is the ultimate decider. But for PTV, it seems YouTube views also contribute a lot.

I'm a Sajal Aly fan , so I will talk about her dramas. ZPKB used to top the trp chart of its slot and also used to get good reviews but it's views were moderate. Is it a flop show?

Kuch Ankahi also used to have highest trp of its slot. Initially reviewers had a problem with so many subplots but later they also accepted that except 2, all other plots were good. But again YT views wise it was not good. So it was flop too?

P.S. - I'm not saying they are cult hits (they are definitely not).

Actually any drama getting 3+ TRP is not a flop. Flop means a project loses its money. Sometimes even 2+ TRP is enough to recover the budget. People here call a project a flop based on expectation. Since Sajal Aly is a big star with 10 million+ Insta followers, people expect her dramas to get high TRPs & views, & if that doesn't happen, they call it a flop.

For example, ZPKB performed very well on TRPs & also did ok on YT, but HUM TV, in its annual report, didn't mention this drama as they were expecting high views & TRPs from Sajal Aly's drama, & it didn't meet up to their expectations. But they mentioned Very Filmy because it was a cheap-budget Ramadan drama.

One can bring actual empirical data to support their arguments but people will still fight writing 10 para argument to prove 7.something TRP drama per week is a mega hit project, while multiple 10+ TRP dramas are running on air

All three mini series by Sultana Siddiqui are on the evils of mob lynching. MJ had a theme on Halala, Nadaan on acid overdose, Neel o Neel will have a theme on Tik Tok misuse.

Zard had multiple messages, the dad spoke about how his eggs were rotten, he needed to do better tarbiyat, he also spoke about treatment for his drug addict kid. A whole separate track was on justice for a child, victim of domestic abuse, who was sent to work because she was eldest of four kids. Even in the love story, they emphasized how a woman should have the rights to decide how many and when to have kids. Leaders in the Kashf foundation themselves had a cameo to voice out how important it is to protect the rights to woman.

one track mind will see only selective things no matter what you point out..even in their so called social cause drama, I saw an abuser is being shipped with the fl which is the heights of joke..zard despite being a social cause drama was atleast neither boring nor just another drama on harassment..literally every other ptv drama uses this plot in their dramas from jn to aiej, doesn't make them either old school ptv or social cause and all these mini series dramas have been specifically promoted as social cause dramas unlike the later where ppl needed to watch the drama to even find out what the theme of the drama was...

He should know about YT views that 10 million views don't mean 10 million viewers. One user can give multiple views to a video; some people watch video in parts, some people watch multiple times, and some watch full ads(which also contribute to views), and on average a user contributes 2-3 views to a large video; actual viewership of 10 million views would be 3-5 million.

So meenu having feelings for a doctor is a sin even though at the end she married him on her conditions and graduated as an outstanding student but some will fight tooth and nail for a preachy journalist falling in love with a literal criminal and ended up being his gang's maid and will also justify an annoying spoiled brat who will got back with r*pist and was mooching off some random old couple to raise her own child. She is so useless that she can't even look after her own child and has to go begging back to her rapist.
