Before the pandemic and - coming with it - the expansion of streaming platforms more people would have gone. The streaming possibilities kill the 'going to the movies' for certain kind of films...

It wasn't Released for numbers, it was released for us fans experiencing that Classic film again on Big Screen, fans who haven't seen when it got released.

That's what I think, too...it's either a nostalgic viewing or the possibility to watch it on big screen with a theatre experience. Why even look for a boxoffice or give labels like "disaster". Anyways, re-releases seem to become a trend in Hindi Cinema.

Karan Arjun is 1st Hindi film to get a Re-Release after 30 Years in same format, especially films from 90s. We should enjoy the experience, rather getting in box office.

Waise Karan Arjun's ADJUSTED NET is 287 Cr. Still a Number which is to be crossed by Ajay & Akki. Ab Dekh lo, kitni badi film hai.

I think KA folks just jumped on the re-release badwagon without understanding what kind of movies would work for re-release.

The re-releases are being done across PVR and INOX cineplexes. Besides the massive fanbase, movies like KHNH, VZ etc have a certain modern sensibility to it which is required besides the nostalgia factor - because the audience is mostly going to be multiplex audience

The only USP for Karan Arjun is the Salman-SRK combo together, because the movie itself is very archaic in its treatment.

If they wanted to re-release a 1994 movie I think they should have gone with Andaz Apna Apna .. being the cult classic it is. It would get lapped up by multiplex audience considering the number of memes that are associated with this movie

I mean producers and theatres got to make business somehow and if DDLJ and Sholay re-runs can still make money then they're obviously going to try with other successful movies. I'm surprised producers and theatres and distributors aren't trying to release more comedy movies, like Priyadarshan movies or Akki's 2000s comedy run or movies like Andaz Apna Apna. Audiences might actually go watch a proper comedy in theatres rather than the crap that producers serve nowadays.

@ Bold: This. They need to go back and re-release movies like this. And add back deleted scenes if they still have them. HAHK had a whole 15 minutes of deleted scenes that actually adds to the comedy of Bhola and Rita story. It doesn't do anything for the main storylines, but when I first saw those comic scenes I cried from laughing so hard. I'm sure cult classics like AAA and others also have such scenes.

Plus they should focus on re-releasing films that didn't do well in theatres but became a success afterwards. AAA was a semi-hit to a fail (depending on which BO page you look at) when it first released in theatres, but became a cult classic afterwards. I'm sure that audience would take the time out to go watch such a movie on the big screen and there's probably others like it.
