A Dil-e-Nadaan was getting similar TRPs as SMD against a bigger TRP show like KMKT. Beyhadh that aired before SMD in same slot with Affan and Madiha was getting similar TRPs as SMD against Bismil. A show with a low budget and no starcast and no promotions would have gotten same TRPs as SMD in this slot. But if a mega signature show with this big of a starcast, huge budget and high production values and big promotion still gets same TRP as a low budget shows without stars and no promotions, it's a failure. Right now, SMD is not even getting TRPs that JN would get and the YT views are way behind, so there's no comparison. Khumar got similar views as SMD but higher TRPs but we call it a dud for Feroze. ReJ got similar TRPs as SMD but much higher YT views yet we call that a dud for DT. (and neither were big budget mega projects). Same way SMD (until things drastically change) is a dud for Wahaj.

Sirf mega signature project bolne se kuch nahi hota. They have an ensemble starcast and big budget, but is the script and direction good enough to back that nope. The actor's can't do anything if your story is so mediocrely written and pathetically directed. Kaddu uncle ko laga jaise jn chal gaya with pathetic storyline same would be repeating with smd. But you never know which kinda script resonates with the audience.

Also haseeb uncle is the biggest reason for smd criticism apart from the shitty screenplay where leads have absolutely no interaction. I agree that audience are not giving it a chance because of the slow pace and ugly filters. Still I feel it'd have done better if geo wouldn't have been in its super flop era.

Mahaj had only 3 scenes uptil now and all of them revolved around zaviyar and maya is bringing down wahaj's acting. Kuch toh low-gics lagaya karo

I won't say Maya is bad. Everything went wrong with the show and the fans should atleast accept it instead of defending it blindly. DNTUN is mainly women centric drama dealing with dark concept. It was telecasted on most unpopular channel.

The way some trying to prove SMD as non commercial project is utter stupid. Lots of romantic posters, teasers with romantic scenes, whole show revolving around mohabbat is not commercial but a show which mainly revolves around widow's struggles, oppression from relatives, woman fighting to become self dependent is commercial drama. Wow.

What is the definition of non commercial ?It is definitely not a romantic drama but the makers have promoted it like that just to commercialize it

Exactly this. Comparing SMD with a classic like DNUTN is utterly stupid and ridiculous. Logic where? The show aired years before terebin. If they do such kind of a show right now, it will definetly get views and trps because of the same superior pair of Wahaj.

Same here, don’t know why people think 2 good looking people can create chemistry because it doesn’t work that way. The energies between the two people need to be on same level, both need to be excelling in romance and both need to be able to act. You need to get the camera to fall in love with you. It happens naturally then audience loves it if it doesn’t and you try to force it it’s never going to work.

A show which deals with love is definitely commercial drama. Why do you think they have romantic posters and romantic scenes in teasers if it's not for commercial project. Every love story is commerical drama. Because love stories easily attracts audience. It doesn't matter if it's one side or two sided.

SMD is not just any random project. A lister actor and A lister actress, famous writer, critically successful director, most well known production house, getting telecasted on big channel. Most importantly promoted as great love story with promising chemistry.

The discussion about SMD and its trps in this thread specially when the show is still in its initial stage(considering geo shows these days are around 40-50 epis)and considering it a commercial failure isn't making sense to me.. the show have flaws,its melodramatic and far away from reality...most of the characters also doesnt make sense...I agree with all these...at the end,its just a fiction so people needto chill down.. I agree the characters are not well written but at least give the show enough time to tell its story and end...after that the debate will make sense whether it is a flop or not.

I m also a viewer of the show..and I agree its melodramatic and OTT and there are no leads scenes.....but if its making certain section of audience happy than what's the problem? At least the show is not promoting toxicity and misogyny in the name of romance..

Also why is SMD trending in India if its already a flop? Can someone please give me a justification?

Tbh she has screen presence and is pretty but as an actor is below average that’s why in terms of tv she doesn’t hit the mark. She’s never given a blockbuster drama with trps and YT views. Mann Maya had good trps but they weren’t the best out there and in terms of acting it was her usual rona dona role that she kept getting typecasted for since then and she did say that’s one of the reason she stayed out of tv for 5 years because she wasn’t getting good enough scripts so stuck to movies that she got back to back.

What you are saying doesn't change the verdict that SMD is a commercial dud. But they are reasons to explain why it is a dud.
