RC is just short for Arshi. Everyone grew tired of the constant Arshi Arshi in the show so renamed her as the letters RC

That would be too much expectation from the level of writing Leena is serving. Anishi relationship has been obviously shallow from day one....but Leena pushes the forced narrative of "long term rishta" and "Ani bahut pyar karta tha Arshi se"....evidence of which we have never been shown - we are just TOLD and expected to believe.

Also, if we go by your theory, then that would prove Ani's statements to be lies where he has openly told Arshi he doesn't love her and he has clarified that too Jhanak many times too. I don't think he's lying in those statements.....he's very clear that he doesn't love Arshi and he doesn't want to stay with her also. The fact that he told Jhanak again in the recent scene that yeh ghar already toot chuka hai and ab nahin jud sakta....and asked why can't a person end a relationship officially and move on? These statements clearly show that he wants to leave Arshi. He only dithers when he feels that Jhanak may not accept him and THEN he considers the "practical" option if you will of trying to make it work with Arshi somehow.....and he keeps failing at that option each time. But his family still keeps forcing him ki make it work with Arshi, then he gives in after a lot of pressure.

As for why he is not able to free himself of Arshi....the rebellion doesn't go all the way through because something always pulls him back from the brink....and it's always an external situation...has nothing to do with any internal conflict related to Arshi. This time also it was about Jhanak being plucked away from his life and declared dead....otherwise he had made it very clear that he was firmly going to end things with Arshi.

If Leena was capable of writing anything halfway mature, she would show Ani realizing he never loved Arshi...it was a companionship and habit of however many years they spent together....dating does not automatically mean actual love. But Leena has to prop up Arshi, so she never shows Ani reflecting to that level.....all he gets are a few dialogues about blaming Srishti as the cause of the problems between him and Arshi and also the reason for why he fell for Jhanak.....lol this is not what unfolded in the story per what we saw....but they don't want to show Ani delving that deep to actually point out how he has never shared that kind of deep connection with Arshi....lol

Maybe what you're saying might be valid but I can't completely convince myself that there isn't something internal going on within ANI's mind and heart, With how he's making decisions regarding Arshi...

Maybe how they'll show things in future decides that...

@bold: I wouldn't say it's completely a lie per se but I am thinking of it as desperation. He was thinking with his heart and not mind during HA track...

He was in bhaad me jaye consequences, responsibilities and bhaad me jaye Arshi mode. And in a way being selfish, if you will.

But when he learnt Jhanak's dead and everyone around him gave up, he came back to his senses and got reminded of the people in front of him and his responsibilities...

And by the way I saw things, Leena's intention was ALWAYS that Ani fell out of love with Arshi and he's the one that changed because of Jhanak and fell passionately in love with her.

Yeah, we viewers would know it's not TRUE LOVE with Arshi but him being IN the relationship and ACTUALLY having had feelings for Arshi, how would he know that he NEVER loved her? He can only realise he doesn't lover her now.... And justify it with whatever reasons he finds valid...

As for Leena's writing depth, I will always give credit to her for shaping up her characters in such an intricate way and despite the shitty tracks she chooses, I wouldn't disregard her writing for the ONLY reason being she's still staying true to her characters....

I have seen many shows where they butcher the characters BEYOND REPAIR for the sake of story, but here she's pushing the LIMITS of her character but hasn't straight out butchered them yet... So, I'm willing to take my chances...

Because at the end umeed se duniya kayam he...

If this show truly becomes unbearable atleast I can say I was positive and hopeful till the end for the love I have for the characters and just let go with whatever good memories I had...❤️

Totally up to you if you want to expect depth from Leena's writing even nowsmiley36

Not every show has the same style of butchering characters. I've seen plenty of ITV over the years to know all shapes and sizes of how butchering occurs smiley36

There is hardly any show that maintains coherence after 250 epis or so.....Jhanak is now long past that mark as it heads towards completing 400 and by this point in a show, neither is the writer interested, nor capable of resolving the raita they've failaoed smiley36.....at this stage, all they will do is double down on their mistakes, come up with even cheaper gimmicks for drama and keep flip flopping the leads on a loop to prop up the PL.

You don't want to believe a writer can be obsessed with a PL to the point of destroying the show, that's finesmiley36. Those of us who've lived through it know differently about ITV smiley36

Bold - 💯 every word!!

In fact in Ani’s arc especially post the tumour track… when he comes back and decides to tell Arshi… there could have had a few scenes if not earlier…

I would have said earlier too cos his disengagement from Arshi happened earlier than his realisation of love for Jhanak. Woh ghar tumhare wajah se nahin toota… but in the narrative they didn’t give a distinctive feel for it for the lay audience… We who used to watch every scene like a hawk 😂😂😂 would certainly agree

But the way I see it, in this show if Ani doesn't do anything toh rarely anybody does anything...

I guess Aag track is the only one in which he was on RC's side and Meenu supported Jhanak. It wasn't being quiet per say it was his choice to support RC.

In Mumbai track also, it was his choice to support RC and he was firmly fixed on moving on from Jhank... He tried to be mostly uninvolved in Jhanak's issues...

So, it wasn't like he was majboor to be quiet...

In this current lame court track, he wasn't involved till now, but now he is and they're highlighting that quiet a bit...

Kuch bhi progress aata he Ani ke muh kholne se hi aata he be it positive or negative in this show, In my pov...

And when he asked RC to stay back also it was HIS choice, because he was feeling bad for her according to his own dialogues.

Family pressure might be one of the reasons but I think the Major reason is his soft corner towards RC, which needs to be addressed immediately, because for me, family pressure hi reason hota toh accha hota, but clearly that's not true...

Which was a bitter pill to swallow for me by the way...

And in that RC didi pregnant track, even if they keep him mum...

(which is highly unlikely to me based on his character graph, but don't know, cause Leena Maata ki jai ho),

then as @sanfan suggested, maybe Jhanak will do something...

But Ani ka always kuch toh stand hoga be it against Jhanak or in favour of jhanak. I think he'll never be quiet and takes a stand based on what he believes in to be true...

But wo truth kya he at that point, that's the question...

Let's see...

@bold: J knows that if Ani ever was intimate with Arshi it was bcoz he imagined her. Will J taunt:

- Arshi didi, kya sirji ko aap dhoka diye?

- Arshi didi, mera kyo copy kar rahe hai?

- Arshi didi, kahi aisa toh nahi ke Sirji aap mein mera chavi dikhai diya

- Arshi didi, aisa toh ho nahi sakta! agar huwa toh sirji hosh mein nahi the

-Arshi didi, aap ko bhi mere tarah kuch aur hoga, please tumor waghera ka check up karwaiye

I feel they set things up deliberately in such a way each time that Ani comes back in a totally broken way after Jhanak rejects him and the his family/Arshi immediately pounce on him with accusations so to quote your fav trope about "path of least resistance" lol - he just starts agreeing to their demands as a way to avoid conflict. It shows on his face that he is not happy but clearly all these soul-less leeches who love sucking his blood don't care about that and are satisfied with him saying a yes to their demands.

In the HA track, he got the courage to fight off the leeches when he could see Jhanak expressing her love for him with the way she was fighting all odds to save him....and he was determined with the courage he got from that too until once again makers repeated the cycle of him being broken over thinking he lost Jhanak.

Each time that makers have scapegoated Ani to give Arshi the excuse of "oh HE asked me stay but I was totally leaving"...lol....I've just never gotten the impression that it is out of any unresolved feelings....They made him repeat a couple of times - both in tumor track and HA track that he is clear about his feelings for Jhanak and what he wants in life after having come back from the brink of death.

For Arshi, they show him saying he feels pity or they show him saying woh uski fikar karta hai....both of these align with his general soft-hearted nature of caring for anyone he feels is sad/hurt over something...he's also many times repeated that he didn't have any intention of hurting Arshi....if he had any residual confusion about feelings, he wouldn't be saying that also.....so I'm compelled to conclude it's just the same setup of contrived problems to continue the status quo....each time Ani tries to move forward on his fight for Jhanak, some external situation crops up. And even then he can be selfish enough to go running to Jhanak first and show where his priority lies but it was Jhanak that shooed him back to Arshi and then he said all that stuff about tumhari bhi fikar hai isliye nahin chhod ke jaa raha hoonsmiley36.....only residual thing here is his general sense of responsibility that is part of his basic character....I do not see it as anything special for Arshi. She just happens to be the person that is always being pushed on him by his family as some kind of non-negotiable permanent fixture of his life. And yes, no denying that this trait ends up causing problems for him because his family as well as Arshi perceive any general concern from him as some kind of special love/attachment to Arshi....lol

Even in today's epi, the confidence with which Shubho lied that Urvashi set Jhanak after Ani to phasaao him and then Jhanak trapped Ani and came back to Kolkata to enjoy the LUXURIES of Bose House smiley24smiley37....and then his claim that Ani Arshi are sooo happy togethersmiley37.....there is no fighting such delusion....and I don't see any cause at this point for why his family pushes this delusion when Ani has made it obvious he is not happy with Arshi....he TRIES after they all pressure him but it always fails. And it's not because of Jhanak's return....it was failing before that also.
